daycare providing formula?

Hi all,

 The day care we're going to enroll DD in provides the formula for them.  I've never heard of this before.  They said they provide the formula the your child takes as long as it's one of the major brands.  This is included in the regular charges for care.

    What about the BFing moms?  Do they have to pay less or do they have to chip in for all the formula that their babies will never use?

    I've never heard of that before.

    Awesome for you. I know there are some programs out there that help daycares with that. My friend has her daughter at a daycare that will provide Similac Advance but unfortunately she has to use AR.

    mine does, they provide the kind form sam's club.  we don't use it because I breast feed but it is there if we need it.  my place also provides wipes.

    I've never heard of that either. And as a BFing mom, if my child were to be enrolled there, I'd want a lower tuition. I don't need to be paying for other children's food.

    Alot of the daycares here provide only Good Start formula.

    They provide 8-10 different kinds. I thought about moms who bf as well, since we're transitioning.  What I don't understand is their tution rates aren't really higher than other centers in the area.

    My in-home DCP provides pretty much everything.  The only thing I have to provide is a change of clothes for my child.

    I actually have a friend at work that does this. Her daycare uses Good Start, so since she had him on the waiting list as soon as he was born (she didn't go back to work for 3 months), she just initially started him on Good Start. It really helps her out in the long run, especially now when her son is almost a yr, and drinking 8 oz bottles at a time, cuts down on what she spends in formula at home.

    our daycare will provide generic formula (specifically, walmart, but it's the same as all the other generics like the up and up he gets at home).  If you breastfeed, you can bring in pumped milk or come in to nurse, but I know there is no tuition difference. I was so excited about getting formula included I didn't even think about it being unfair to BF'ing moms!!
    Just an absolute casserole of nonsense.
