When do they normally do this? DD isnt even close to doing this. She will grab at the bottle during a feeding but when I let go to see if she will take it from there, she just lets it go.
Should I be 'training' her to do this or is this something they just kind of pick up?
Re: S/O LOs feeding themselves the bottle
I think it happened in stages for us ... around 5-6 months he started to put his hand on it but I would still have to 90% of the work
... around 7 months he would pick up a 4oz bottle and hold it up but I had to do about 50% of the work of keeping it tilted enough (but he would usually let go and let me do it all) ...
then last month (8.5 months old) we got home from travelling and I got out a 4 oz bottle - he took it and fed himself (I cried and ranted to Dh that Grant didn't need me anymore - emotional moment haha).
For a few weeks now, he has been picking up the 8 oz bottles but not able to tilt it or sustain a feeding on his own.
Today, at almost 10 months was the first day he fed the 8oz fully on his own :-(((
