When was your first solo trip out with your LO (C-section mamas especially)

Mya will be 2 weeks tommorow.  I would love to get out next week, even just for an early morning target trip, as DH is going back to work.  But I cannot even imagine driving still at this point because my c-section incision still hurts.  I visited my ob today and everything is normal, it just still hurts!  When did you make it out solo and felt okay?

  • I think it was about 4 weeks postpartum.

  • 4 weeks postpartum here too.  At 2 weeks, I still couldn't comfortably lift her car seat into the car.

  • I drove about 1 1/2 weeks after having Davis.  My doc said I could drive if I could lift my leg easier and pain free - like when going from accelerating to braking.  I switched cars with my husband because my car is manual and driving an automatic is easier.
  • I think I was 4 weeks.  It was hard to carry LO and the carseat at first, but it gradually got better.  Don't push yourself too hard, you'll get better eventually.

  • Maybe its because this was my 2nd c section but I went out the day I left the hospital. I left the hospital and went to target to get a breast pump. My husband drove though. I went out on my own a few days later.
  • I was super naughty! I went to Target by myself with DS 5 days after he was born! I was going stir crazy and just had to get out.  It was pretty sore but nothing I couldn't handle.

  • I took her out by myself for the first time to her 2 week pedi appt. since DH had a bad cold and didn't want to risk getting any LO's sick. I felt great about 2 days after my c-section though.
  • I took DS to his 2 week pedi appointment also.  I only went out by myself a total of three times by myself during the first 4 weeks and none of those trips were longer than 1/2 an hour.

Today I went shopping with DS and we were gone for a few hours.  It was my first big outing alone.

  • I probably went out about after 3+ weeks for a short outing.

  • I was out and about the day I was discharged (and I had a c/s) My DD is 10 weeks and she still hasnt left the house except to go to the Dr.  Its too cold and too many people are sick this time of year.

  • At 1 week we went as a family to the grocery store... Week and 3 days my dad and I took him to his pedi appt, and at about a week and 4-5 days I went to Target with him solo.

My c-sec scar has only really been sore if clothing rubs it though.

  • If my husband would let me drive LOL (he works from home) I would have been gone 2 days ago. I feel awesome and not taking any pain meds. Im DYING to get out. I am hoping tomorrow at my Dr appt he says I can drive
  • I can't carry the car seat yet, but I can definitely drive.  Plus I drive a full size truck, so there's no way I could lift the car seat into the back even if I could carry the thing.  When I want to go somewhere I have DH put the car seat in the truck for me, and if I need to take DS in somewhere I bring his sling.  The sling is SO much easier to deal with than the massive car seat.

I guess I'm still not supposed to but I've carried LO in his car seat..  Embarrassed

My recovery has been pretty smooth so far though, knock on wood.

  • I took DD out when she was 2 weeks, 2 days old.  We went to visit my mom & DH at work.  We were gone about an 1 1/2.  The carrier was a little difficult for me to lift, but it was manageable.
