When is an okay time to go ahead and buy them? If you have bought them, how much bigger should I get them in the hopes that they fit after my milk comes in?
Thanks!

I would recommend not buying any nursing bras other than sleep nursing bras until after your milk comes in and you are through engorgement. You will probably change sizes significantly, but the sleep nursing bras are a little bit more flexible (like a jog bra) and you will need them anyway. Bravado makes a nice sleep one, and so does a small company called Blue Canoe with an organic super soft cotton. HTH!

I just bought a Gilligan O'Malley sleeping/nursing bra...I bought it one cup size larger than pp, because A) my boobs have grown 1/2 cup size since pregnancy and the sleep bras stretch a ton, so I would still have a lot of room to grow. Plus, it was only $19.00
Everything that I have read/heard says to wait until after your milk comes in. I have bought 2 sleep nursing bras and 3 nursing tanks that I can use in the meantime.

I bought them a few weeks before DS was born and just bought them again this week. I loved the Bravado with my son and they have a guide on the back to help you decide what size to buy. They size them S, M, L and XL. I am a 32 D pre-pregnancy and that equated to a M. I was super engorged with my son for the first 1-2 months and the Medium was perfect. I also went to a baby/maternity boutique store that specialized in stuff like that and got really good advice from the sales people. I highly recommend seeing if a place like that is in your city.
ETA: I only bought 2 with my son, just in case they didn't fit once my milk came in. Then I went and bought more.
I went to Destination Maternity yesterday with this same question. She suggested one that was somewhat stretchy and didnt really have a cup size. It fits me now, and said that it should continue to do so after my milk comes in. She said that after that time, you can go back and get a more standard bra style nursing bra (the one I have now looks similar to a sports bra, with no underwire but more give than a sports bra, and has a pocket to hold breast pads) but until that time, it would almost be a waste of money to get a sized one since there is no way of knowing how long you will be in it for.
i was told to wait.. the lady at my maternity store said that if my bras are tight, that i should move up to a bigger bra but just buy a regular bra until milk comes in..
I can't really give advice since I'm a first-time mom, so I could be way off on this, but I can tell you what I did based on what I've been told. Walmart.com has really cheap sleep nursing bras. It was like $12 for a two-pack if I remember correctly. I ordered one pack in the size that I wear now, and another pack in a full size up. So for less than $25 I have four bras in two different sizes. I'm assuming that should hold me over until my milk comes in and I know for sure what size I'll need and then I can buy more. Good luck!
They have really great reviews and they come in a small/medium/large so I figured I would be pretty secure in just getting the large (I would be at the edge of needing the large based on my current size anyway).

I am a first time mom, but my plan is to buy (and register for) the tanks, and then buy one of these:
