If you have had a cortisone shot... come in please!

I had one at about 10am today... and OMG my knee feels like it is going to fall off! Is this normal? Because WOW... I thought it was going to make me feel better... NOT worse!

TIA :)

Re: If you have had a cortisone shot... come in please!

  • I had one in my wrist a couple of years ago. It hurt really, really bad for about a week until it started feeling better.

  • My mom had one in her shoulder.  She informed me that she's rather give birth unmedicated again then have another cortisone shot.  It did help after about a week but until then it hurt really badly.
  • I had one in my knee- i just didn't have any pain afterwards. everyone said it was going to be hell- my doc even gave me pain meds and i didn't need them at all. I have absolutely no cartilege in my knee and have arthritis in it (from years of iceskating and coaching)- as soon as i got my corisone shot i had NO PAIN afterwards- I only needed one shot and so far I have been pain free for over a year. Weird huh?-

    hope it gets better.

Sounds like we have the same knee. I have very little left after years of dance, cheerleading, high jumping and hurdling! I am really hoping this works... there are a few other treatments that he may have to try.

Ajanes I am not going to lie I had unmedicated childbirth and this isnt that bad yet... BUT OMG its like the worst tetanus shot only in my knee!

  • Did your doc use the cooling spray to numb it before the injection?-

My knee was like NUMB and weird for about an hour afterwards and then luckily no pain.

I hope it gets better for you- knee probs are NOOOO fun. I was really surprised that it hasn't bothered me since- i almost hate to say that- because i don't want to jinx myself.

if you ever need to get another one- ask for the cooling spray- and ask for pain meds.

  • So weird- I had one yesterday at 9:30am!! It;s in my wrist for De Quervain's syndrome (aka mommy thumb!) so far it hurts very badly in the injection site and I have a bruise.

But my wrist was WAY less stiff and painful when I woke up today! Still wearing my brace for a while and taking it easy. They said it would start to get better in 48 hrs, and take 1-3 weeks for full effect.

    GL!

  • I have had them in my back, hip and knee. Back felt better immediately... hip and knee hurt for a few days and then improved
