Getting a new passport?

So I have a passport, but since I got married I have to get a new one. I looked online today and I have to pay the full fee, plus it takes 4-6 weeks! GRRR! Has anyone tried using theirs with your maiden name?

    I have used mine with my maiden name for the past 3.5 years (the whole time I have been married).  You just have to make sure you buy your plane ticket with your maiden name.

    My passport doesn't expire til 2011 and it just seemed like a real hassle to get a new one with my married name sooner.

    I got my passport amended with my married last name and buy tickets in my married name with no problems. If I remember correctly (it's been a while) I didn't pay anything to have it amended but I did need to send it in along with the marriage certificate. It didn't take long to come back, less than a month.
