Who else gives milk in sippy before bed?

I can't be the only one. Should I try to stop this? Is it a big deal?

so many questions

Re: Who else gives milk in sippy before bed?

  • well, jack still gets his bedtime milk in his "bubba" so i will not fault you one bit!

at least i don't leave it in the crib with him, right? Smile

  • We do!  DD's routine is bath (if it's bath night), pjs, snack/milk & stories.

  • We have a snack of cheerios and milk starting about 1/2 hour to an hour before she goes to bed.  It is more to settle her down instead of getting food into her.  I am not concerned when she isn't interested.

  • We just replaced the last bottle with a sippy.  He doesn't really take it because he's still made it's not a bottle.  We'll drop the sippy eventually- it can't be good to not brush their teeth last thing before bed.
  • DD has a sippy of milk anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour before bedtime.
  • I do. DD has uses one with a straw and has a little milk (she doesn't drink much though) while we read books. Is this terrible? I'll put it on the list of awful things I do as a new mom :)
  • Ds gets milk in a sippy before bed. I just brush his teeth afterward. No biggie.
  • we switched to water.
  • I wouldn't say *right* before bed, but before her bath that is right before bed.

  • DS is 19 months and still gets 2 bottles a day- one at naptime and one at bedtime.

My dentist said its fine- he's still getting his teeth brushed 2x a day. We do bath/brush teeth/pjs/bottle.

  • Mine does milk in a sippy before bed as well.
  • We do a sippy before bed. I'm pretty sure he could go without, but I like to give him the additional milk since he doesn't really drink that much during the day.

  • Sometimes yes and sometimes no.  It depends on how much milk he drinks during the day/at dinner.  If I feel like he needs more, I offer him some while we are readind a book before bed.  But it's not a definite thing.
  • we do - in a sippy.  i do want to cut this out soon though, and just offer him more milk/water before his bath/bedtime routine.
  • We're awful... we still give her milk and sometimes milk/formula in a bottle after her bath and let her fall asleep in our arms.

The only reason I still give formula sometimes is when she doesn't eat very well during the day... if that's the case then I still feel like she needs something more to fill her up and give her all the calories she needs.

And well, she used to do really well with her sippy cup, but since her little sister came along then DD#1 seems to want her bottle even more and refuse her sippy most of the time.  I think it's going to be really hard  to transition her from it.

  • He gets 4oz of milk in a bottle before bed. My pedi said its fine and to try to eliminate it before 2. I dont think its a big deal.

  • DS normally has his supper right before his bath and bed so he has a sippy of milk at supper. Then I brush his teeth after his bath. He doesn't have any drinks in his room, etc. right before bed though, just at his meal.
  • DS still gets 7 oz of formula in a bottle before bed.  But, due to his diet restrictions I have to do anything I can to get enough calories in him.  He won't take that volume out of a sippy, so bottle it is.  He is also still up in the middle of  the night eating 6 oz.  He is not a good eater and has diet restrictions.  Unfortunately, this is our life right now.  I will worry about the bottle later.  Right now, I just need to concentrate on finding foods that don't upset his GI tract.
  • just switched to the sippy cup at 15 months (last week) but she is struggling a bit.  once she is totally used to the sippy for milk, i will give it to her at dinner time and give nothing immediately before bed.  worked with #1 by 16 months so i am hoping it works quickly with #2 as well.
