3rd Trimester

Those of you who have a history of high BP or pre-e, please come in.

I had severe pre-e and HELLP with my son.  Delivered at 36w4d via emergency c-section (BP was 210 over 110 with epigastric pain).

My BP has been low with this pregnancy 110 over 70's.  One day it went up at an appt to 120 over 80 so they pulled me from work just to be safe.  It has since been 110 over 70.  Last night I checked it at home and noticed it was 125 over 80.  I rested and it stayed about the same.  This morning it was around the same.  So I decided to shower and pack bags just in case.  I sat down to recheck and it had gone to 140 over 90.  So I sat down for a bit and rechecked and it went back to the 125 over 80.

What do you think I should do... Just relax and keep an eye on it or call.  I am sure they will make me come down.  I got my 3 year old home with me too.  WWYD...

  • Call your doctor.

  • I haven't been diagnosed with pre-e but went to the doctor yesterday with signs of it. My bp was around 135/85 or so...can't remember. They put me on bedrest due to that and swelling as well as protein in my urine. So this is all new to me. I'd call my doctor just to be safe. Better to be safe than something go wrong! Hope everything is ok!
  • I don't have it, but my sister did with all three of her pregnancies.  I know it's a hassle with a LO at home, but you should def call the doc if your pressure is spiking.

  • Heather,

You need to call your doctor and get the whole bloodwork and 24 hour urine thing done.  Delivery probably isn't necessary yet, but they need to step up on the monitoring.  We've both been there, and if a repeat is inevitable I want the docs to catch it and react faster.  You dr can't do this for you if you don't tell him/her.  I wouldn't really want to call either, but you need to.

    Take care,

    Melissa
