**Webmistress**

Since you have been through the allergy thing I wanted to ask you.  We got the bill from Elliot's testing yesterday and aside from the cost, lol, I was shocked at the things they tested for.  Soy, milk, egg whites, tomato, peanut, cashew, scallop, shrimp, chicken, pork to name a few.  First off, I have NEVER heard of a chicken or pork allergy lol.  Did they test all these things with Ari too?  I was just amazed at some of the things they tested, and then other things they didn't.  Strawberries for example.  I thought that was a fairly common allergy.  Anyways, we find out all the results when we go for his 12 month check up tomorrow.  Just wanted to see if Ari had similair tests because I couldn't believe all that was on there.

Re: **Webmistress**

  • I didn't do allergy testing with my little one, but I do have a friend that can't digest meat without taking a pill first.

  • That just seems so bizarre.  I had never heard of anything like that.  I'm not saying I doubt it exists, I just wouldn't have ever thought of something like that.

  • I had a friend in grad school who was allergic to chicken...
  • I have heard that chicken & pork can be allergenic! Crazy! I guess it's not common but still, pretty nuts.

We only had Ari tested for wheat, milk, soy, & egg. I had been logging our foods for about a week & a half before we went & that's what we had narrowed it down too. The allergist told us that he often places 50 or more patches for that patch testing, but prefers to have it narrowed down, especially with infants < 1 year old. We started with that & he said if we had more issues that we couldn't figure out on our own we'd do more.

So far we've been good besides corn, and that was obvious. I almost don't want to know if there's more allergies. LOL.

  • The not wanting to know is exactly how I feel lol.  I mean, we need to know for Elliot's health and safety and it will be good we know them all but milk is a really hard one to avoid, peanuts are fairly easy, but if it is wheat or corn or something along those lines I feel like this poor kid will have nothing he can eat.  It's already hard to be creative with what I give him to eat because he isn't a meat eater by his own choice and no cheese or milk products.  Ugh.  I'll have to update tomorrow once we get back.
