that a lot of kids start giving up their naps around 2 when I told him DS was not napping well. I nearly cried. I am not ready to lose naptime and DS doesn't get the concept of quiet/rest time in your room yet.
DD dropped her nap last month. ?When I realized it was not a phase I sat on her bed and cried ?She refuses quiet time in her room so we had to come up with a new routine. ?After I put the baby to bed we go into our basement and watch a movie. ?She rests while watching and I can rest too. ?It was really hard for about 2 weeks but now we are in the swing of things. ?It amazes me she can make it through the day without a nap but she just isn't tired. ?Some of my friends have 4 year olds taking naps, I am so jealous
My DD started fighting her nap right when she turned 2.
Now we have "rest time." A light in her room is on a timer. When the light goes out, rest time is over. She really understands it (though we didn't start it until a few weeks ago.)

DD naps only some of the times (yea usually on her term, lol) but if she doesn't nap she is ready for bed by 7:30, otherwise if she naps she is up until 9:30 or 10:00. I still haven't decided which way I like better. lol
Here is some hope for you...My niece will be 3 in April, and she's not even close to giving up her nap yet. She's gone through a couple of phases where she fights it for a few weeks, but then she goes right back to telling YOU that she needs to go to bed and will then proceed to put herself down for a nap. Maybe your DS is just going through a phase and will come back around to the idea.
DS is still napping like a champ. This weekend (sat) he napped for 2hrs and 40 mins.(And he sleeps 9-10hrs a night) On a normal day he'll nap for at least 1hr.
DS actually is taking 3-4 hour naps. I asked the pedi if that was normal last week at his 2 year appointment and he said it was. But everyone seems like their 2 year old is dropping naps!
You guys are giving me some hope! He has never been a fantastic napper, but he is so active he needs the break. I definitely need it!!! Keeping my fingers crossed this is a phase!
