s/o Shopping Cart Covers - CLICKY

Re: s/o Shopping Cart Covers - CLICKY

  • The only reason I use it is because what if some weird sicko had his hands down his pants playing with himself and put his STD infected hands all over the shopping cart .. .EEEEEEEEEKKKKKKK!  I am a germaphobe!

  • We have one but we've never used it. DD is just now sitting unassisted really well, so I may break it out and use it. It seems easier than lugging in her infant seat!

It is sooo much easier!! I hate that infant seat!  Whenever we go shopping, I either wear DS in the Moby or use the shopping cart cover...he likes both.

  • i didnt register for one but got one as a hand me down. i use it just bc i dont want DD eating the handle and sides of the cart like i know she would. I am in no way a germ freak and think its good for them to be around stuff and get into stuff to build up their immune system but the carts are so gross and are outside and get pooped on...thats just something id rather not have in her mouth.

EEK!  This has never occured to me. LOL!  I am more worried about flu germs...BUT I still don't have it together to lug my cart cover with me.  I really should...For now, I wipe down the cart before putting her in.

  • We have the one that also goes in a highchair at a restaurant.  It makes me nervous to know what food might be on there from the previous kid that LO might lick.  Ewwww....

  • I got a hand-me-down cart cover and I'm suprised how much i use it! Not only for the germ protecting factor but because I can attach toys to it. It's soft, and warm and she seems comfy in it.

It's ugly as hell though, lol. Since I use it so much i think I'll invest in a new one.

Most have belts/harnesses or slots so you can use the cart belts. Try it out, the infant carrier is a PITA! DD loves looking around the store now.

  • Unfortunately, O has a germaphobic mommy...so I LOVE to use the slip cover at all times!
  • I picked SS because I got one as a gift and I do use it sometimes, but I'd be ok with not using it if I had to.

Thank you! She loved the snow!

  • I have one, but haven't used it yet.  It's sitting in the car.

  • I got H1N1 from a shopping cart, so I am hard pressed to even get ME to touch the handle, much less let X drool and chew all over it. I still wipe it down with santitizer before I use it even if X isn't with me. I just leave the cover in the car, and grab a cart before I unload X. Having the toys on it makes it much better while we're shopping anyway!

How do you KNOW you got H1N1 from a shopping cart? Couldn't you have gotten it from the store door as well? Just interested to know how you know you got it from the cart and how you were able to narrow it down to that with everything else you touch in stores?

  • I have one, but don't always use it. It depends on how much of a rush I'm in, how fussy AJ's being, if the carts are in the store or out and what the weather is like if they're outside....whether or not I remembered it after washing it. Blah, blah, blah. But I do try to remember it and use it whenever possible.

You do know that STDs are transmitted, well, sexually, right? I mean, I use my cart cover whenever we go to the store but it's not because I think DD is going to get chlamydia from the seat.  It's easier to keep her in the seat, more comfortable for her and protects her from germs like viruses.

  • After learning - and then witnessing it happen - that many restaurants store their high chairs upside down, I'm glad to have something that covers the gunk from the floor.

I also love that I can attach toys to it.

If it were just for germs on a shopping cart, I wouldn't bother - there are sanitizing wipes for a reason! :)

Lol! The shopping carts are just gross.

  • I live in the city--I've never even seen anyone use one.  I just keep DD in  her stroller and just fill up a basket.  Is it just a blanket that goes over the shopping cart?  I'm confused.

I have the Eddie Bauer one...pretty common cover, here it is:

I like it because it has a harness to help keep baby secure in the seat, covers the yucky cart germs, and has material on the front you can easily attach car seat toys to. Helps keep DS occupied while I shop!

I usually put links on there, plus this cow that he absolutely loves!  I rarely use his stroller to go shopping.  Either cart cover or Moby.

  • We use ours every time we go shopping.  Its easier than lugging in the stroller, and, germs aside, the metal baskets are just so hard and cold.
  • We have just started to use it because DS grew out of his infant seat a couple of weeks ago, so I had to begin to put him in the cart with the cover.

Would never use a cart unless I had I the cover...too many germs out there.
