Stupid lefty.
Lefty has always been the over achiever - producing easily 3-4 times as much as righty. Saturday night I pumped almost 4 oz from lefty after feeding and putting Sam to sleep, and about 1.5 oz from righty. (I almost always offer both breasts, switching up which one "starts")
Saturday night/Sunday a.m. was when the blockage/plugs/mastitis - whatever it is - started up. All of a sudden, lefty's production is piss poor. I'm now offering it to Sam at every feeding to try to "feed out" whatever it is that is bothering me, but he can get pretty fussy since production is down. THIS morning I have a blister on my nipple - BAH! I don't think it's a milk blister since it's not painful - I think it's just from friction from Sam sucking so hard.
But dear lord, this is ludicrous. Thankfully Sam seems to be no worse the wear.
OK, that's that. I am spending the day in my pajamas. I actually got a combined 8 hours of sleep last night, including one 4.5 hour stretch(!!) and that was huge. Hopefully this is on the way out and you won't have to read about my boob anymore ![]()

Re: Stupid boob. Vent. again. ..... sorry.
Oh dear. A blister sounds horrible. Last 2 feedings Sophie has been super fussy on my under-producing side. Flailing around, pulling my boob with her...I thought that was bad enough. Please no blister...
Hang in there!
YES!!!! Oh my god that hurts - why do they do that? Sam bites down and shakes his head from side to side like a dog with a chew toy. Sometimes he does it when he's stretching, but lately it's been out of frustration. Thankfully the blister isn't painful and evidently if it is from friction it will heal up on it's own.

so sorry. those early BFing months where everyone is still regulating and such are so fraught with boob issues... ugh. i really hope you and leftie are on the mend ASAP.
(FWIW, leftie was my trouble boob as well

ok i seriously lol at the "dog with a chew toy", but it is the PERFECT description!
LOL i agree! i hate it when they do that! thankfully miss A will do it and most of the time she unlatches while she is doing it so it isn't too painful
E - i am sorry you are having boob issues. if it makes you feel better, there are a lot of us that are right there w/you, including me! if you get back to the same situation again where lefty is overproducing, then i would just nurse Sam from the right side first every time to bring production up on that side and then just pump to relieve engorgement on the left... if you keep pumping lots on that left side you are going to perpetuate the problem. my right side used to be much bigger by but doing that they are more even now.
