2nd Trimester

I think he's still breech.

7 weeks ago at my 19w ultrasound he was breech. That wsa the only concern my dr. had about the ultrasound.  I seriously think he is still breech. A lot of the movements are below my belly button or to the side.  Occasionally I get a kick right near my belly button.

Re: I think he's still breech.

  • There is still time/room for him to flip! No worries.

  • I find it odd that your Dr was concerned about a breech position this early on.

There's pleeeeeeeeenty of time for baby to get into position.

  • My LO likes breech too. But there is no need to worry. They can flip past 30 weeks.
  • Definitely still time to flip!  DD was vertex at 36 weeks, flipped to breech at 37 weeks and back to vertex at 38 weeks... they do all sorts of acrobatics in there!!

  • mine is too - all of the kicks I feel are very low - below the belly button
  • I never ever felt a kick above my belly button with LO #1, and he was not breech.  He was transverse for a while, but flipped head down at 30 weeks and stayed.  I am tall, my uterus will never hit my ribs, I consider myself lucky!  It also was the reason my labor was so fast and easy per my doctor...

  • May I ask why is this a concern already? Or are you yourself just worried?

    Just curious.

  • Mine too but we were told that was normal at this stage.

  • Lots of time to flip.  Just hope you don't get to 38/39 weeks still breech!
  • Mine's been breech or transverse at every u/s, but I was told not to be concerned.  Lots of flip time left.  DD was breech until near the end as well.
  • You have tons of time! My DD flipped three times during the ultrasound!

    I'm just worried, that's all.

Oh OK. Well, I wouldn't worry about this quite yet. :)

  • Of course he's breeched!  Would you want to spend the next 3 months upside down???  Think of the brain rush!  Stick out tongue

There is plenty of time for your LO to flip.  Mine is all over the place!

  • I talked to my doc about this at my 25 wk appt and she said sh eis not worried at all. She told me not to worry until we are well into 3rd tri.
  • Ours is still breech, too.  Actually, we're going in for another ultrasound this week to check his/her position, but I'm pretty sure the baby is still breech based on the kicks I've been feeling.

My doctor wants to monitor our baby with monthly u/s if it remains in a breech position because breech babies don't always measure right.  Apparently, our baby's head was measuring about a week behind the rest of it's body at 20 weeks.  It has something to do with the shape of the head in breech versus head-first babies.  My doctor said as long as the baby is breech, we'll continue to do monthly u/s to check it's head measurements.  So it's nothing to be too concerned about it this point, but it's definitely something my doctor is monitoring.

  • I've never heard of an OB concerned at 19 weeks. Seriously, no offense but your dr is pretty dumb if he is concerned so early, baby flip ALL the time at the stage, they are still SOOOOOOOO tiny, my OB doesn't check for position until 32 weeks and doesn't "worry" until 38 weeks or so!
  • Mine started out completely transverse at the 8 week u/s and has been sort of breech/transverse at every u/s since then (3 so far).  Dr. said no need for concern because they are always moving and its way too early to tell how she will be lying when I go into labor --its only a concern if they are still breech when you go into labor.
