Nest/Knot Policies seriously?

Ok I will be the first to admit this is the 1st time looking at these but have they always been the same?

-No posts about your business
-If a member asks for a business recommendation, you cannot respond with yours
-In your signature, you cannot mention your business whatsoever, or link to it.  You can link to your personal blog if you have one.  If your personal blog has a link to your Etsy store, we are ok with that. However, please do not list items and their prices on your personal blog, essentially creating an extension of your store.

    I've seen these posted a few times recently.  Like the last few months. I think if you are going to advertise they want you to buy it.  I mean it makes sense from their vantage point.

    I do happen to think it's kinda Big Brother of them to expect us to abide by their rules on our own blogs though.

    The thing that is irritating is that they want you to pay to advertise with them. But, if anyone has looked into pricing, it is ridiculous! Crazy expensive!

    Geese, I guess I am not allowed to ask where you purchased your cute little hats?  That seems a little bit overkill, esp since I have seen people post/mention etsy stores a million times on the boards.  How is it any different from asking what daycare you go to or where you get your hair done? Is it still a violation if you recommend a business even if you have no affiliations with that business?

    Actually, what I think this means is that if I ask for a recommendation for a photog, none of our photogs on here could actually say, "Hey, I take pictures. Here's my information."

    That sort of thing. It's worded badly.

    Molly - no we can recommend whatever we want. People just cant AW their own businesses that they own. You are safe and I'll email you with some recommendations for hats.

    I think they're just saying that if someone asks for a recommendation, you can't tell them about YOUR business.

    It is expensive but it also reaches a huge market so I totally understand it.  There are a lot of less expensive avenues too.

    Ahh ok, that makes sense.  I guess I am out of it today!! 

    I'm such a sucker for cute hats but Ava's head was so big all the ones I bought her didn't fit her so I am hesitant to buy any for this baby.   I need some type of adjustable one!

    i just never read the policies so i was curious as to if they have always been the same. and i do get the blatant no-no of your own advertising but recs are ok!
