do you think I could host a party? I am trying to plan a get together at the end of the summer (probably about 10-12 weeks after having LO). Is this too ambitious? DH would help and it would be a casual outdoor get together.
I think it's all dependent on you and DH. People keep telling me DH and I won't want to be doing anything/going anywhere for a few weeks after the birth. But 2 weeks after my due date is July 4th and we always drive up to my grandmother's for her BBQ... I don't plan on changing that myself. But then again, that's not ME hosting it
Every person is different, I delivered naturally and was totally functional a few days after and would easily have had a party 10 or so weeks later. But if you have a C-section etc you might want to consider that.
I am no expert but I do not think it would be too soon. My SIL had her LO at a wedding on 2/13 and he was born 12/26. He was a great baby, slept through the music and during dinner. I say go for it!
Depends on you. I was a summer baby and my parents brag about taking me camping at a month old and to sea world at two months old. I was the youngest (by 6 and 8 years) so they didn't think my siblings summer plans should have to change just because I was an infant. I guess my point is don't let having a baby put your entire life on hold. It will just change how you live it.
Everyone is different but I can tell you after a few days I was ready to get back into the swing of things. I was bored out of my mind at home on leave and started working from home when DS was 1.5 weeks old. You can only clean so much in between the diaper changes and nursing sessions.
I think we are probably going to plan a BBQ a couple weeks after LO is born for everyone (just close friends and family) to meet him.
I'll be back to work in 6 weeks so I would guess 10-12 weeks for a casual get together should be fine. With my daughter I was back to work in 5 weeks because they needed me and I was fine then too! maybe you should make tentative plans and see how you're feeling a couple weeks afterward and go from there!
I threw a big BBQ to welcome Natalie into our family 5 weeks after she was born. It wasn't hard to do - I did all the preparing of salads and stuff, and DH did the BBQing....
About one month after I felt ready to do more and was adjusted to our new schedule. I had a c-section so the first 2-3 weeks for the hardest for me. You should be fine!
I don't think that would be too unrealistic. DH and I usually host a casual outdoor get together the first week of August and we're still planning on doing so this year (LO will be around 8 weeks old).

That is plenty of time. It took about a week or two for me to feel normal again.
I hope not!! We always entertain during the summer ... and, our baby will be here in June!!
My plan ~ have people help with food/drinks ... and make sure DH helps with cleaning up when people leave!
