If you responded before, please do so again. If you didn't, read this and see if this helps explain (not good if you don't make sense and you're a professional communicator....)
I'm happy in my job now but there is a potential promotion ahead. I imagine I will still be happy in my current position even if it doesn't change, but I won't be adding too many new skills to my resume. I already manage people, so that's not a concern as far as getting that experience but I'm a little concerned about not continuing to move up as far as resume building.
So the question is, if you had a 3yo and a newborn and you were choosing between a promotion that is more stressful but comes with the opportunity to build more onto your resume and a sense of more responsilbility/ownership, would you take it? Or would you just sort of hang out for a few years? I will be "happy" either way, I imagine, because I love all of the people on my team and I'm passionate about the work we're doing.
I'm not going anywhere either way. I have on-site childcare that is fabulous and like I said it's a really fun place to work. So it's just a matter of staying in my current position, or asking for a potential promotion.  Is it worth the stress?
Thanks!
Re: WWYD-let me clarify
I would take it. I personally have a little bit of trouble paying attention at work when I have so much going on at home. If I have more invested in my job and a little more work to do, then I'm happier at work.
