I love being "different"

SmileToday at work my boss asked when DD would be starting cereal and I responded Oh I don't know if we are going to at all. Then she laughed and said Oh yeah I forgot who I was talking to.

I am very proud that I am willing to do research before making any decision regarding my child. Giving myself and all you mommys like me a pat on the back.

Re: I love being "different"

  • Good for you :)  I said something similar to a church friend, and she asked why I wasn't doing cereal.  I said that I've read that they shouldn't have grains until they have at least one tooth because when they get teeth, they also start developing the appropriate saliva to better be able to digest grains.  The "know it all" mom of 2 nearby piped up and said "Oh, no, baby saliva can digest anything.  We started DS on cereal at 4 months" yadda yadda.  I just nodded and went on about my business.  It irks me when others say that your research is wrong because it's different from what they did.  Im glad your boss isn't one of those people!

  • And, btw, "Audrey" is on our short-list for potential future baby girls, and we're thinking of moving to Dayton in the next year or so :)

Never heard of that. My DD didn't get a tooth until she was a year old. Should I have not given her any grains until then? Or is there some other standard for late teethers?

I've never heard this either. I have a mommy friend whose daughter literally did not cut a tooth until she was over a year old. I think that it would have been detrimental to her health to reach a year and not have any grains, especially since they are a good source of natural iron.

Oooh, then you'd both be right up the street from me- I'm in Cincy! I'm kind of afraid to go to an AP meeting here, but would love to have some AP mommas nearby!

Agreed, as always. I gave the OP one laaaaaaaaaarge eyeroll. I always enjoy people who passive aggressively slam others for being uneducated.

If you researched I would not slam you for being uneducated but thanks for the eye roll Smile

you juxtaposed two statements that had nothing to do with each other in the OP.
