I was told no perfume/cologne, powder, or lotion for me or my husband, but deoderant was OK. And yes I took a valium once I arrived for my egg transfer. Good luck with your retrieval and transfer!!

I was told no perfume, lotion or anything for ER. ET they said anything was fine but we still did not wear anything smelly. I did not get valium for ET and it didn't hurt at all. It was weird when he was washing out my hooha and there were like 5 people in the room, but otherwise it was fine.
I was told no perfume, scented lotions, etc. But they never said anything about deodorant & I went to the ET late in the afternoon from work, so I definitely had deodorant on, but no perfume or scented lotion.
I was not given a valium, it wasn't bad at all - if you did the mock transfer, then it's pretty much the same thing except they use an abdominal u/s to guide the cathetar. The worst part was having a full bladder...it got a bit uncomfortable after about 1 hour waiting to be called in & about 30 min. of prep/discussion time prior to the ET.
For my ERs, I was told no perfume or scented lotions. I did wear deodorant and used an unscented lotion that morning. My understanding is because they're retrieving the eggs and heavily scented things could impact the quality (I could be making that up).
For my ET, no, I did not have restrictions like that. I was not told not to use any of those items and I'm sure I used deodorant (but they didn't restrict that for ER for me) and some lotion.
I was given valium before my ETs although I forgot to take mine before ET#1 but I remembered for ET#2 and #3. It isn't for pain or anything since ET is typically is a pretty painless, easy procedure. Basically, it relaxes you when they do the transfer and also minimizes risk the uteruse will pre-expel the embryos.
I was told no perfume or lotions prior to ER but I was never told no deodorant. I just showed up for my ET, I was not given Valium at either clinic (I cycled with 2).
Yes to both questions. Deodorant was fine as long as it was unscented. It also goes for your DH if he is with you. I never knew that before. They don't like you to have any strong scents. The nurse told me about a woman whose clothing detergent was so strong that they asked her to remove all of her clothes at ET.
no perfume, scented lotions, deoderant, hair spray (ha! yeah, right!) etc. for both ER and ET.
and yes, I was given valium for the ET. I think that it supposed to relax the uterus and cervix - it's not that the procedure itself is painful. It made me feel loopy for ~15 minutes and that was it. Not sure if it did it's job in my cervix and ute, but the procedure went perfectly both times!

I was told (and there are all signs all over the clinic) that say no scented lotions, perfume, etc the day of ER and ET. I asked about deodorant and my RE said, I'll be wearing it, so you can too.
I forgot about soap and almost started freaking because all of our stuff is scented and of course I needed to shower and wash my girly bits, so I searched my cabinet and found some unscented Clinique facial soap. Yep, I used that.
I didn't get a Valium. I think the ET was pretty easy. It could have helped my anxiety though, because I was just so excited that it was happening.
Interesting. Nothing was ever said about perfume, lotion or deodorant either at ER or ET and before now I never thought about it. But I did get valium for ET.
Re: Question for those who have had an ER and ET

I think they said no perfume for ER, but I don't remember restrictions for ET.
Yes to the valium question and it was delightful.
I was not told no DO, perfume, or lotion. I didn't put on perfume or lotion but I did wear DO.
I was given a script for valium but didn?t take it. I should have b/c my ET with IVF #2 was horrific.
I didn't have any restrictions on lotions, etc but I opted to just wear some deodorant the day of transfer just to be safe.
No valium for the ET but it wouldn't have been necessary, it's a very easy procedure.
