Babies: 9 - 12 Months

do you have a walker?

a friend of ours gave us their used one, but it was missing a part so we tossed it. Thinking about getting ds a new one but dh thinks they are dangerous. Does/did your lo use it? Do they ever use it to climb on things? Thanks!

Re: do you have a walker?

  • What kind of walker? The kind they sit in or the kind they walk behind and push? If it is the kind they sit in these are not safe, and are actually banned in Canada due to so many injuries and deaths...

  • Nope, as PP said they are illegal in Canada if you get caught bringing it into Canada they got confinscated.

  • We have one. We don't use it very much anymore. We don't have stairs, and I was always with him while he was in it. He loved it.

  • We have one that she pushes and we/she loves it. I don't know if it's helped her learn to walk or not, but she has taken a few steps on her own now!
  • We had one before DS could crawl.  Now that he can crawl, he would rather do that.  We live in a place that there is no way he could fall down stairs or have things topple on him.  DS used it when he was like 4 to 8 months, so I am not sure I would buy one for a 7 month old.
  • We have one and we have no steps in our house, so no worry on the "danger".  We also have all concrete floors and DS is quite speedy and adept in it.  He is actually too tall for it, but loves getting around in it.  It will soon have to be put up and he will have to master the "walk from behind and push" walker.

thank you, I was wondering about this too, since he is so close to crawling now!
