Babies: 9 - 12 Months

Enlighten the clueless me about solids please!!!

DS outright refuses to eat solids in ANY FORM. That means no cereal, no purees, NOTHING. He kicks and screams and attacks (ok exaggerating) when he sees a spoon.I am at loss at how to feed him solids.

My DH has this theory he came up with last night. We are East Indians and eat our food with hands and DH thinks DS wants to do the same with food as well. DS chews and salivates when he sees us eating dinner but doesn't wanna eat when we actually offer him anything with a spoon.

Please help me pick foods (finger goods) for a first time eater. Can I boil baby carrots and mash them up and offer DS? Can I do the same for bananas? Should I feed a raw mashed banana or boil it? What else can I feed him without the worry of choking. Sorry, I am really clueless about making baby food. My mom has all these recipes of making baby food, but she took the book with her back to India.

LOL.Yes. We have this offering rice for first time ceremony in first week of march and until then we cannot give DS rice. Sucks. What does Bodhi eat as of now?

We have had to take it slow since DS has some allergies. Right now we are still introducing fruits one by one for 4 days each. He does not mind the spoon if we give him a spatula to hold on to.

DH has sneaked some jaljira masala into his food before. I was not happy :)

We will start giving him some mild spices in his food soon, maybe around 9-10 months. Definitely try some finger foods, he may just want to imitate his mommy and daddy. Maybe give him some food in a mesh feeder and let him go to town.
