Emerson Hospital?

Hi ladies!

I'm new to this board - hubby and I found out on New Year's Eve that we're expecting our first, after 8 months of trying. I'm due 9/10/10!

I'm leaning towards giving birth at Emerson and I wondered if anyone has any strong feelings towards or against Emerson? I specifically like their new birthing center, and that they have a certified nirse midwife on staff.

Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance  Big Smile

Re: Emerson Hospital?

  • Congratulations!

I have heard great things about Emerson.  My OB is afflicated with Emerson and I have no worries when it comes to L&D.

I had a D&C at Emerson in September and everyone was so supportive and I felt well taken care of.

  • Congratulations!

Emerson has my been family's hospital of choice my entire life. They are often referred to as the country club of hospitals in the area. I haven't given birth there yet of course haha, but I have heard only good things about their new birthing center.

  • Congratulations!  I am not pregnant yet, but I chose a OBGYN affiliated with Emerson after touring the hospital two years ago.  My best friend just delivered there in October, and I was there for the birth.  The hospital was AMAZING!  I absolutely thought the nurses and staff there were just so great.  She also took a few classes through them and she thought they were just great.
  • I gave birth there back in October. I actually had switched doctor's at the end of August, because I heard great things about Emerson. (I was new to the area when we found out we were expecting and just went with the first doctor/hospital on the insurance list). The staff were amazing and the atmosphere was great. I was very happy with my experience. They are very supportive with breastfeeding and anything I needed.
  • I gave birth at Emerson 18 months ago today! I loved the nurses and all of the care I received while I was there. If there's a baby #2, I will go back to Dr Sinopoli and Dr Hale at Emerson.
  • I'm due in early May and will deliver at Emerson. Ive had a bunch of appointments with Sherri, the midwife on staff and she is great! They offer classes with a tour of the birthing center there. I see Dr. Balcomb there and have had a wonderful experience so far.
  • This will be my second birth at Emerson and had a great experience with the first. Sherry the midwife is wonderful and I hope that she is there when I go into labor in early May!! I also see Dr. Balcomb and love her as well.

  • I delivered there 19 months ago and only have good things to say. i had a very complicated delivery and was very impressed by how it was handled. Honestly, I work with UMASS and would say Emerson puts them to shame. It has a nice small hospital atmosphere.
  • We're expecting our 1st in July and all of these posts just got me even more excited, as we too will be delivering at Emerson!! I wish you the best of luck for a happy & healthy 9 months!! Congrats!!

  • I'm also delivering at Emerson in July! It's lovely. Everyone is so nice, and the birthing center is also brand-new.
  • Congrats! I delivered at Emerson in August, and loved it.  State-of-the-art facilities, great doctors, great L&D nurses. The only drawback was that the lactation consultant was really overbooked for the amount of new breastfeeding moms, so I didn't get as much time with her as I would have liked.  When I was able to see her, she was very helpful, however.  (for me it just took a lot of help to learn how to BF my daughter.)  But everything else about the hospital was great.
