I am really thinking I am done with Walmart (Long sorry)

I have said this a million times but this time I think I am actually going to do it.

I ordered the Summer Infant 3-1 entertaining chair for Aubrey online and had it shipped site to store.  I get the email Friday saying it is in and ready to be picked up.  So Saturday afternoon armed with my email I go to pick it up.  They take my info..go to the back..bring out a box and open it..and pull out the wrong thing.  Okay no big deal. 

So I ask what will happen next.  The manager (that was who was doing this whole thing) says well we will refund your money and you'll have to go home and reorder it. Okay not really what I was expecting to hear but I can deal with it.  She then says you'll have to take this whole thing up to customer service where they will refund it on a gift card.  I said Wait a gift card...I put this on my debit card, I have the receipt, can't you put it back on my card or refund me cash?  She says No, our policy with Site to Store returns are gift cards only.  I said I don't feel like this is my fault because I ordered one thing and they sent another.  The manager literally said "Not my problem."  I just didn't know what to say!

She then said you have two choices...1) take what they sent or 2) take this whole thing up to customer service and get a gift card.  No I'm sorry for the mix up, no offer to take care of it for me, no have a nice day, just shoved this box at me and said next customer.  I was very taken aback.

So I go to customer service and of course had to wait in a line a mile long because they had one associate working.  That associate then was trying to refund me the money for the wrong item and not what I ordered.  The wrong item was cheaper than what I ordered.  I had to explain to him 2 times what had happened but he just wasn't getting it...he finally called the front end manager lady up there and she fixed it but again no apology for the mix up, no have a nice day, nothing.  

So now I am stuck with a 50 dollar gift card to a place I don't want to shop at anymore, and still don't have the chair.  A small condolence is that I have a 20% coupon for BRU and they have the chair in store so I am going to buy it there.  I guess I'll buy 2 boxes of diapers and some wipes with the Walmart giftcard, but I really think I am done with that store after that.

  • Wow! I would be pissed. I am sorry you had to deal with that. I try my best not to shop there anymore because of crap like that.

  • I've been trying to quit Walmart for the longest for reasons like this as well.

    I think you should also write to their customer service (their may be an online form) about your experience just to let them know what happened and that they are losing your business because of it.  I firmly believe in the customer service letters.

  • I'm honestly not surprised that this is how it went down, with it being Walmart and all.  I"m sorry...that's a sucky situation.  Maybe you can get you some groceries with your gift card and wash your hands of them for good.

  • That's awful!!  I've often said that I'm done with Wal-mart too.  It just can't stand the people that work there.  Glad that you'll be able to get the right item at BRU. 

  • Yeah...Wal-Mart's customer service is the worst...and I've noticed that their prices are going up...they're just as expensive as everyone else.
