if you have painted since you've had a LO/or while pregnant?

I am not doing the painting - DH & his friend are.

I'm in my first tri of preg and have a 14 month old. Is it safe to be home while they are doing this? or should we try to stay gone all day?

They are painting 2 rooms downstairs, and we can hang out upstairs, but can't really open windows or anything b/c it is winter.

We used low-odor paint, so DH just opened the window and I could barely smell it. But we have a two story house, so I was on the other floor.

DH just painted DD's new room last week. We did low odor no VOC and I really coudn't smell a thing. I think you will be ok. Now if your DH was varnishing the floor or something GET OUT.

his friend is a professionall painter, and he bought the paint, so I doubt he got low-odor paint.

If it where me I would just hangout upstairs. I was home when DH painted the nursery. I was even on the same floor.

This. And I even helped paint and do touch-ups... I thought it was okay and an "old wives tale" that pg women couldn't be around paint! haha- actually more of a "Honey, I can't be around new paint so you have to do it all yourself!!"

I helped DH paint Lil's playroom a few weeks ago. We used a fan and I took a few breaks, getting out of the fumes, but it was really no biggie.

MH and I painted DS room when I was about 32wks along. I did thr trim and corners. He did the roller. we had and ac running to vent. once we were done for the day we closed the door and left the ac running. We'll do the same thing when we have #2 and we need to decorate the guest room, the bedrooms are upstairs and the family roomwhere DS's toys are is onthe opposite side of the house.

I used regular paint while pregnant and I painted my daughter's room all by myself - I kept the windows open for ventilation. My sister also helped us paint our condo when she was pregnant.

Ha ha, me too. Also, for safety, I STILL can't clean the cat litter box. You know, risk of bacteria and all, since we're going to have another baby ... someday. ;-)

Get the no- or low- VOC paint. I used no-VOC paint to paint the stripes in DS' room when I was 30 weeks pregnant. It's fine.

I just opened windows in the house. Its not that cold in the winter out here. I was trying to help dh, but I couldnt. I got the "safe" paint with low stuff. Idont remember what it was, but the smell killed me.
