Need some ideas for finger foods...

K no longer will eat purees. I feel like we are giving her the same old things when it comes to finger foods and I worry whether or not she is getting enough veggies and meat.

Our standard finger foods include bananas, baked apple pieces, peach slices, steamed broccoli, cauliflower and carrots, cheese slices (her favorite), grilled cheese sandwiches, Nilla wafers, mini pancakes. She also occassionally has tiny bits of hot dog and scrambled egg.

What finger foods does your LO enjoy? I feel like she needs more protein, but honestly DH and I don't eat a lot of meat.

Re: Need some ideas for finger foods...

  • Beans have a lot of protein.  We do black eyed peas, lima beans, green beans, etc.

I am probably the wrong person to ask.  Allie is the worst eater ever!  She takes 2-5 bites at every meal, then locks her jaws or throws it on the floor.  I hate meal time because it becomes such a fight to get her to eat.

    Allie ~ 01/26/09 ~ 7 lbs, 9 oz ~ 20.75 in. & Amelia ~ 03/16/11 ~ 8 lbs, 1 oz ~ 21 in.

  • My niece used to eat small bits of chicken nuggets or diced grilled chicken, or bits of turkey.  Also my SIL would cut up seedless grapes into small pieces for her.
  • Love the new siggy pic!  So cute!

For protien, how about cooked, diced chicken, turkey & ham?  Well done hamburger, broken into bits?   Pot Roast (shredded) is great too b/c it is so tender.

Other ideas for finger food that I remember giving Caleb at that age are:

    Soft cooked pasta
    Gerber Graduates Meat Sticks
    Avocado
Earth's Best mini waffles (dip in apple sauce)
    Pear
Toast with Cream Cheese, cut into bite size pieces
    Boiled Potatoes cut into chunks
    Blueberries
    Corn
