It was my understanding that the breastmilk/formula intake should not go down and that solids are just complimentary to their diet, not replacing anything. At least not at first.

We have kept the same. First we added rice cereal an hour after her morning bottle then today we added a veggie for dinner. So far formula intake has stayed the same.

DD eats three meals of solids a day and eats just as much formula as she did before. She wouldn't be happy with any less. In the beginning, it should be about the same since solids are in addition and not to replace formula/BM. As LO gets closer to 1 year and is eating more substantial meals and closer to being weaned, the amount should begin to drop. Just let LO guide you on this.
Thanks ladies. He's eating pretty much the same.....but I guess I kind of freaked because he's been sick too & hardly eating = (
DD has never ate well when sick or teething. Her appetite has always come back with a vegenance once she is feeling better. Hope LO is feeling better soon!
Re: how much formula when starting solids?
