For Moms - High Chair Recommendation?

I'm looking at high chairs and I'm wondering what I should be looking at.  We want something that will look nice in our home, so nothing too plasticy.  We're having a girl, but are going neutral with our color scheme.  We want a stand alone until.  Other than that, I'm not sure what to pick.

Any recommendations or advice?

  • We have a Graco Contempo in the Rittenhouse design.  I know it's not necessarily the type of high chair that would fit in with other wooden furniture, but it's perfect for us.  It reclines in 3 positions, the straps are sturdy (5 point harness), there's a removeable tray that can be washed in the diswasher, and it folds up TINY.  It's great for us!

  • We have the Fisher-Price Space Saver high chair for Zachary and it's been one of my favorite pieces of baby gear.  I like that it fits on a regular chair and snaps off when we want to get it out of the way.  It's not big and bulky.  It can be used from the time the baby is an infant until they're ready to sit in a regular chair.  We used to put Zachary in it in the reclined position as an infant so that we could all sit at the table together.  Now we're using it as a booster seat to push him up to the table.

BRU and Target have some nice wooden high chairs too that I drooled over for awhile.  The Space Saver was more practical for us though.

  • We have the Graco Classic Wooden High Chair in cherry.  We really like it and it looks nice in our kitchen.

I wish I had done this. We have the graco deco and love it, but its big.

I also have friends who have pre perego high chairs and they have nice patterns.

  • If you want to spend the money there is one called the Svan high chair and the Tripp Trap by stokke.

We had the peg prima pappa (actually have 2 of them, one for my mom's house) and the babies sit very low.  Once we started with finger foods, we had to get more of a booster seat chair so that DS had a better range of motion.

  • We have the Chicco one.  Overall it's good.  My only complaint is it's hard to clean.

Ditto.  Picture below.  Every single person I know who has one RAVES about it.  I've seen it in action in several friends' houses and the chair looks great and grows with the child.  Great investment, if you ask me.  We'll be buying one shortly (just trying to find a retailer that won't charge more than the chair to ship to China!).
