Please recommend your pack and play

hi ladies,

we weren't going to get one but think it's a necessity with 2 floors.  the babies will be napping in there so we need the elevated mattress.  is built in storage something we will need?

any advice is appreciated - thank you!

Re: Please recommend your pack and play

  • check the weight limit - i believe it's only about 15lbs for the bassinet, which will be passed fast with 2 babies.

we never used the PNP with the twins- not YEt at least- we plan to start using it once they are mobile as a safe place to put them when we need to go out of the room (bathroom, cook something, etc).  We just have a regular graco one.... for DS1 we mostly used it for the changing table early on - and then as a safe spot when he was mobile.

not sure what you mean with built in storage - you mean the diaper stuff on the side? It's nice- but not a necessity.

Most MoMs don't bother with the twin bassinet b/c it's just marketed to twins but doesn't really do anything different.

  • love the utopia. we own two & use both a ton, esp for the changing table.
  • For what you want, I actually recommend an Original Arm's Reach co-sleeper, not a regular Pack n Play or a mini Arm's Reach.

We have a multi-story home and we got a basic Graco PnP Safari for our family room for the babies to nap. However, like a previous poster mentioned, the weight limit for standard pack n plays is only 15 lbs for the bassinet feature.

This means when your twins combined weight hits 15lbs, you can no longer use the elevated mattress. My twins are 8 weeks, and we can no longer use the PnP for them to nap in together. We had to switch to the Original Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper which has a bassinet weight limit of 25 lbs.

Also, the Original Co-Sleeper converts to a PnP and you can use the same linens they sell for PnPs.

ETA: Extra storage is nice, but was not a necessity for us, since we keep all baby essentials in a decorative basket in the family room. Also, we change the babies on our couch in the family room, so didn't need the elevated changing table either.
