I have no babysitter tomorrow and I can't stop crying. Why can't this be easier? She told me about an hour ago via text message...

Oh no! That is so rude and unprofessional!! How could she put you in that spot? Um, hello two weeks or even two days of notice??? And, text message?
I'm sorry Babbs.....I know you've had a tough time with babysitters. I hope you find someone better very soon!

Wow. I can't imagine someone being so completely inconsiderate to a mother that depends on them.
I would throat punch her if I were you.
I hope your family can help out, or your work is flexible until you get things figured out.
I don't know how old she is, but I've noticed that trend amongst my younger staff where they quit with no notice.

I'm so sorry. I don't know if these websites are in other cites but I've used sittercity.com and I've heard of care.com when looking for my babysitters when DH and I go out. sittercity even runs background checks for free. A lot of my friends use them to find their nannys or sitters for their daily use too.

that sucks! I hired a sitter who quit the morning she was going to start (took a job at a restaurant.) she left me hanging and I proceeded to miss an important meeting. unhappy mama, unhappy client.

Oh, that SUCKS -- how incredibly unprofessional to give NO notice and quit via text. I'm so sorry!
FWIW, when it came time to go back to work this fall (after being off for the summer), our babysitter never responded to any phone calls, e-mails, texts, etc. We had to find someone new on short notice -- and it was the best thing that could have happened. Our new babysitter is 1000 times better -- we just adore her.

When you join sittercity you can put an ad up. I needed a sitter within 2 days and I had 20 responses. I also thought I was going to need one last minute for 5 days when my husband was supposed to go out of town at no notice and I had tons of responses of nannies that were looking for their next full time job, would've taken it while looking for full time work. So you n ever know what you'll get!
Thanks, I am going to join today. I was just looking at all the options. I am also waiting for my friend to call me back. She might be able to help me out until summer and then MIL can take the summer and I can use all summer to look for one.

Oh, Babbs! That is just so awful and unprofessional! How can she just leave you in such a position w/o notice? And through a text, nonetheless?!
I am sorry. I hope you are able to find someone ASAP.

I'm sorry that she has left you to scramble for child care. From other things that you've shared about her, I'm not entirely surprised, disappointed, but not surprised.
