Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Does Children's Place run big (or is my kid a shrimp!)?

Kiddo still fits easily into 12 month clothes from TCP - do you find they run biggish?  He outgrew Carters 12 month stuff a while ago (maybe those just run small?).  I'm trying to figure out if I should go ahead and get 12 months again for the next few months or if I should up to 18.

He is on the smaller end, I suppose...  And if it weren't for his cloth dipes, his pants would fall off!

  • I think it depends on the item(s). I had bought dd a halter this past summer and it was a 12 mos. She only wore it once or twice before she out grew it and she was 6-8 mos old.

  • I have found they run big.

  • I think it really depends on the item.  But almost everything he has from there is big on him when compared to other stores.
  • They run big - I put a 12 month rugby jersey on him from there yesterday and it was down to his knees! lol

  • I think it runs big. My DS still fits into his 12 mo CP stuff, but 18 or 24 mo in everything else.

  • Yep, and the pants run way long.
  • I also think it depends on the Item.  DS is 27lbs and I got him 24 month pants because I didn't want him to out grow them in length too quickly and they are HUGE everywhere.  But since they are adjustable I just kept them and roll them up.  I also got a hooded shirt in 18 months and it fit but wouldn't fit for long on him, and was a tad short.  I returned it for 24 months but haven't tried it on him yet.  For the most part T wears 18-24 months (he is 16 months) but still wears most of his 12-18 month shirts the pants are just too short from most places.
  • I'm in the minority here but I say true-to-size or small.  We just got DD a 24 month dress (she's 18 months, 27 pounds, 50th percentile for weight) and it is snug fitting, not too tight but couldn't be a stitch smaller.  She consistently grows out of Children's Place before Carter's, Gap etc.
  • They run big for us

Same here.  I always buy a size bigger at TCP.

Us too.  TCP is always the first brand she outgrows.

  • I find the pants run quite big but the shirts run just a little bigger than Carters.  DS has been wearing 24 month clothes for at least 4 months and he is still wearing 18 month pants from TCP.
  • I just looked at the other posts after I posted.  I have heard the girls sizes do not run big, but the boys are seriously so wide and long.  I have bought him 24 months for next winter.  He is just over 50% for height and around 30% for weight so not super small.  Oh and they are having really good sales right now.  The outlet (not sure if the regular stores have the same sale) had lots of 1.99 and 2.99 clothes.  I bought a huge bag of stuff for $40.  I even got him a cute pair of jeans for 2.99.
