Anyone made their own? What kinds of things did you hang from it and how did you construct it? I know the obvious guidelines, no sharp pieces, only child-safe toys or objects. I'm just looking for ideas.
I made my own. I used small wooden stars, hearts, and guitars which I pained in pink, black, and white. I used an embrodery hoop with wooden dowels (?) crissed crossed in the center. I hung the starts, hearts, and guitars with ribbon which I hot glued to the hoop and dowels. To attach it to the ceiling I am using ribbon as well.

We made ours so it would match the "monster" theme of our nursery. It's made from a wooden purse handle (bought at the craft store and painted white), a wooden bead with a hole running through it, and embroidery thread. It has a plastic loop at the top and hangs from a hook in the ceiling. Uglydoll keychains (minus the plastic keychain part) are hanging.

We haven't made it yet, but we're making this one:

My mom has made a couple 'test birds' so far, and we've picked out fabrics.
I made this one from a plastic embroidery ring and a bunch of ribbons that match the colors in her nursery.
