How old was Nolan when he got his tubes? I asked the Ped about how many infections before tubes are necessary and she said only 4. At the rate we're going, that will be here soon. I'm nervous about her having any type of surgery before age 1. What exactly do they do to put the tubes in?

Re: ***Mr&MrsS***
Nolan actually doesnt have tubes yet, we have an appointment with the ENT on Friday. But Brady got tubes at 13 months, and I wish we didnt wait so long! Brady would get an ear infection within just a couple of days of coming off the meds. I was scared about doing the surgery too, so our pedi recommended us to put him on Amox. for 3 months. We did that and in that time he didnt get any ear infections (which makes sense because he was on medication), but two days after coming off the meds he had an ear infection in each ear. While he was on the Amox for 3 months he didnt get any infections but he always had fluid in his ears. The pedi told us that just the fluid can hurt even if it isnt infected. He was a pretty cranky baby and had sleep issues and I think a lot of it had to due with his ears. As soon as we got the tubes he was a new kid. And he has only got 1 ear infection since he was 13 months, which is a HUGE improvement.
Nolan has now had 4 ear infections in 2 months (which is a lot considering he is on meds for 10 days each time). He seems to get another one after being off the meds for about a week. I am nervous about him getting surgery so young, but I am going to talk to the specialist about it and see what he says. I trust what he has to say and if he says we should wait, then we definitely will. But if he think Nolan needs them and they will make a difference and everything will be ok then we will do it.
When Brady got them by that afternoon he was his normal self, as if nothing happened. I was scared about him going under, but all was fine. I will let you know what the ENT says about Nolan when we see him on Friday.
I hope Stella feels better soon!!
Your poor little guys! That is just awful. Nothing worse than seeing your babies in pain and not being able to "fix" them.
Definitely keep me posted on how the appt. goes with Nolan.
