How long was your LO in newborn clothing?

I am realizing after all of my showers that I have barely any newborn clothing! Lots of 3-6 mo., some 0-3, but not even very many of them, and only 2 newborn outfits (about 8-12 NB onesies).

I have been having growth ultrasounds often now and LO could be born this week...if so, would be around 6 lb. If I go to my due date I'd think she might be around 7lbs.

Just wondering how long a baby that size would be in NB clothes or if 0-3 would be too big right away. I know every baby is different, but wondering what you moms have seen. TIA!

DS was 7.5oz at birth and the NB size clothes were big on him. They are just now starting to fit a little bit better. I would just go grab a couple NB size sleepers. That is all you will want her to wear the first couple of weeks anyways

DD was born at 35 weeks and wore it for about1.5-2 months give or take. It also depended on the brand. Every brand fit a bit differently.

Just get like 5 nb sleepers, that's all you'll feel like dressing them in.

Zach was 7 lbs. 6oz and he wore them for about 4 weeks.

FYI, if you are concerned about your LO growing out of them quickly, Carters NB size is pretty large and should last you a few weeks. Zach is over 11lbs now and about 23 inchces and he still fits into the Carters NB size onesies (but the snaps do pop open now if he has a very full diaper!) I also find the Gerber onesie run small. He's almost grown out of their 0-3 onesies!

dd was 9lb14oz and fit in some nb outfits for about 2 weeks. your lo may fit in nb for a while if she is 7 or 8 lbs

3-4 wks. He was 6 lbs at birth; he outgrew them in length first. I only had about 10 and some he only wore twice.

about 4 weeks. DD was 7lb 7oz at birth. She was out of Gerber stuff way earlier though. It runs super small.

DS was born at 7lb14oz and he could wear most his newborn clothes for the whole first month! Then, all of a sudden we just went from 0-3 to 3-6 in like 2 weeks! It was crazy!

DD is still in NB clothing. She was 9 lbs. 4 oz. at her last weight check.

Tegan was 6 lbs 4 oz at birth and at first most of the newborn stuff was huge on her. She was 19.5 inches long and so she was too long for most preemie clothes. DH and I had to go out and buy a few more sleepers for the first 2 weeks because she could only wear the sleepers. Anything with pants would just fall right off. At about 8 weeks she stopped wearing her newborn stuff (some of it still fit) and started wearing 0-3. She probably could've worn her newborn stuff a week or two more, but I was ready for new clothes, LOL!

I would definitely encourage you to wait until your LO is here to buy NB outfits, but you should go and get about 5 or so newborn sleepers. I bought DD some NB outfits, but not until she was about 4 weeks old and we started taking her out of the house more often.

my kid was 8-15 at birth, and we just put his newborn ones away last week. He was 11-12.5 at his 1 month appt. But, I keep the clothes pretty fitted on him.

My LO wore NB until he was 5 weeks. Some brands he never fit in their NB size (Gerber) some he still fits in (Circo). He was 7lbs 1oz at birth.

She was born 7lb 12oz, and stayed in newborns until her 3w growth spurt. She outgrew her 0-3 mo stuff around 9w. Yup. And she's honestly getting a little long in her 3-6's.

8 Weeks- my DS was 8lbs at birth. He would still fit, but his feet are so stinkin big. My DH still tries to stuff him in NB sleepers if I am not paying attention.

DD was 6 lb 3 oz at birth and was in NB clothes for almost two months.

DS was 8 lb 1 oz at birth and was in NB clothes for about a week and a half. He's now in 0-3 and a few 3-6 (at 3 1/2 weeks).

Our LO was 6 lb. 11 oz. at birth she can still fit in some NB stuff now. It depends on the brand. She fits good now in 0-3. We haven't had a weight on her in a little while last she was 9lb. and and ounce. It really does depend on weight and even length, but I'd get a few more just so you have something.

Sean was 7 lb 9 oz at birth and wore his nb sleep & plays for about a month and a half. The nb onesies only lasted about 4 weeks. He is still in 0-3 onesies but his 0-3 sleep & plays are starting to get short.

DD was 7lb 1oz at birth(6lb 12 oz when we left the hospital) and she was in newborn clothes for a little more than a month. 0-3 would have been too huge for her at birth.
