I am currently on DH's insurance. Anyone know about what it would cost a month for me to go on my own and we pay for it monthly. I am sure it will vary by plan, but looking for some ideas.
DH and DS have insurance through Aetna and its about $250 for both of them. To just add me would more than double it, due to my being of maternal age. You can go without maternity, but you have to have had it for so long if you get pg, blah blah blah.
We have a BCBS plan offered through our Farm Bureau (which we had to buy into; it wasn't too bad though). DS, DD and myself are on our own plan and we pay less than $250 a month for it. It's a high deductible/OOP plan though ($7500), so that's why it's as low as it is. I will have maternity after a year (again, high OOP though) and we have a $25 copay for doctors visits and Rx coverage.
Much better than the $800 a month we were paying through DH's employer. He is still on their plan and the cost is neglible with it just being him now.
I have Blue Cross and currently pay $356 a month just for myself. It's really good coverage with $0 deductible. In efforts to save money I am switching April 1st to a Blue Cross plan with a $5000 deductible that will cost me $125 a month.
We have BCBS and pay $617 a month - and that includes about $140 a month for maternity coverage (although, like others have mentioned, you can not deliver in the first year of coverage and we have to pay $3000 oop for delivery). We pay $35 copays, and we each have a $2500 deductible.

We pay over $2,000 a month.
