I live in Kansas and it gets extremely hot and humid here. I plan on just dressing this baby in a onesie for the most part... it's so stinkin' hot here in August!

LOL that you think Illinois is humid... try a FL summer and it will change your mind! Anyway onsie dresses were my go-to for DD- they were cool and adorable and seemed like more of a complete outfit than just a onsie. I guess if this one is a boy it will probably be one peice jumpers or a onsie with shorts.
My 2 girls, both born on a Friday the 13th, are exactly 2 years, 2 months, 2 hours and 2 minutes apart! And Baby Boy joined us October 11, 2013!
When DD was little we dressed her mainly in onesies around the house. If we were going out I'd put little shorts or those Carter onesies with the skirt on them.
We had a July 2008 baby and the week we had him it was actually "cool" here (I'm in Illinois too--south burbs of Chicago). But basically put him in a onesie and pants all the time--and a onesie for sleeping--but I bundled him up with the blanket. You can kind of tell if they are cold/hot and change it accordingly.
I LOVED having a summer baby---especially in our climate.
I put those little sundresses that were really onesies with ruffles on the butt on DD So cute but, yeah, essentially just a onesie. And maybe socks. I'd always carry a light blanket or throw the hooter hider over her if it got windy or too breezy though.
We are in Texas so it gets pretty hot and humid here. She wears dresses or shorts and t shirts mostly. When she was newborn, she wore little onesies and one piece rompers.
Jackson was born in July in Sarasota, FL. It was hot, he was in onsie's or the one piece rompers all the time, the hardest thing I felt about having a summer baby was going in and out of aircondtioning we always had a blanket to put on him when out and about.
Jackson arrived 7/7/08!

Re: Mom's of summer babies, I have a really stupid question.
We rocked a onesie most of the time. We don't have central A/C. If we were spending time in a cooler room, I might put pants on.
Actually, DD lived in the 'creepers' - they are onesies that button down the front as well as the crotch. Loved them.

We did a lot of outfits like this:

Carter's one piece rompers.
This is what we did as well here in Texas.
