Stroller question

DH and I hike quite regularly, and we try to go camping every year as well. We are hoping to continue some of these activities when our LO arrives. We only have money in the budget/space at home for one stroller - it will otherwise be used to run errands, walks in the neighborhood (where we have some brick sidewalks).

What would you suggest?

We are looking to get the Baby Jogger City Elite. We live in the city and walk everywhere and we love to camp and hike so we thought it would work perfectly for us.

I do plan on using a carrier (probably the Ergo) for trails that aren't totally stroller friendly (which is about half of the trails we tend to hike).

Everyones needs are different. Decide what is important to you about the stroller and go from there. You could spend $100 on a stroller you love or $1,000 on a stroller. If your rarely going to use the stroller, get a lightweight stroller like a Combi or a Maclaren. If you are going to use the stroller a lot then get something a little nicer like a Bugaboo, Uppa Baby or a Baby Jogger.

I would check out the Jeep Liberty Limited Standard Stroller. It is under $200, has inflated tires, holds an infant seat so it can be a travel system and you can hook your Mp3 up to it. I haven't actually tried it yet, but it has gotten some really great reviews. The only downside is that it sounds like it is a little big an bulky, so if you have a small vehicle, it may not work for you.

Think ahead, as well. Do you plan on having more than one baby? Maybe something like a Phil & Ted's that can be converted to a double, or the UppaBaby Vista or the Baby Jogger City Select?

I thought we had a great stroller, and now a year and a half later we are shopping again!!!!

I should have clarified that some of the trails/paths we go on are roughly paved - if we are going on a true trail (in Vermont or elsewhere, there aren't many that close to where we live) we would use a carrier. A lot of the paths in the parks here are gravel lined, and since our sidewalks are brick, I just wondered what strollers would offer the smoothest ride and have durable tires.
