How long were you able to work before the Dr. told you to stop. I teach 3rd grade and have twins due July 20th. I was just wondering if I could possibly make it to June 15th or if it was out of the question.
I teacher computers K-5. I taught until 36 weeks (though I was barely making it through the day from 34-36 weeks), and made it to my scheduled cesarian at 38 weeks. I had a great pregnancy too, no complications at all. Well, bursitis in my hip afterwards which was a pain, but not the worst thing in the world.
I teach high school and worked until 28 weeks. I probably could've gone another 2 weeks, but it was Winter break and the perfect time to stop. I've been extremely uncomfortable since about 32 weeks.
I teach 4th grade and I worked until 36 weeks and then delivered via c-section at 38. I had a fairly uncomplicated pregnancy but did have diabetes. I didn't gain much weight at all toward the end (4 pounds between 28 and 38 weeks) because of the diabetes and I think that it actually helped me make it as far as I did. And my little guys were almost 6 and 7 pounds! Good luck!
PS - The kids really kept me going. They were soooo helpful. They barely let me get up out of my desk! I hope yours are just as great!
I teach fourth grade and I'm working for two more weeks. I'll be 32 1/2 weeks at that point. I just wanted to get through our state tests and then I'm done so I can rest up for their arrival. My doctor is fine with it since I haven't had any complications so far.
Our last day of school is right at my 36 week point... I'm hoping to make it til then because I have NO sick days saved up so I won't be getting any paid maternity leave if I deliver early or get put on bedrest.
I also teach third and was placed on modified best rest at 24 weeks. 3 weeks later everything looked great and I was allowed to return to the classroom for half days, which we all know is a joke! I still bring papers home and answers emails in the afternoon. Anyways, I am almost 32 weeks and still working part time. I'll continue to do so until the girls come or I just can't take it anymore. I'm impressed with everyone who was able to work full time so long. I know I couldn't do it! I'm already tired and exhausted by lunch time!
OP - I hope you are able to work as long as you wish. I went into this pregnancy with expectations to work full time until the last minute. I thought it wouldn't be a problem at all because I was in good health and determined to make it work. My body, however, had other plans. Just be prepared for the unexpected!
My OB had me stop at 25 weeks. I think a lot earlier b/c I have history of PTL and of course went into PTL at 29wks6days this pg but we were able to stop it.
I honestly think that you will be too tired to make it to June 15. Maybe the beginning of June but IDK about the 15th. Another reason is b/c (not all) but some multiples are born 3-4 weeks early is what OB told me. For this reason, your doc may have you stop earlier.
I was getting tired and pretty out of breath around 24-25 weeks, but I otherwise felt "fine." I wish I had stopped then - at my 26w4d appt, my cervix had changed drastically from 2 weeks before, I was having PTL, and this landed me in hospital on fairly strict bedrest...
I was determined to make it as far along as possible, but I wish I had parked my butt at home on the couch/in bed much earlier.
(That said, though, I am actually so grateful that things happened the way they did since what happened resulted in the birth of my two very healthy 35 weekers!)
I worked full time until 28weeks (that is when school ended, so I didn't have the opportunity to continue). I was on modified bed rest as my dr called it at the time. I could go to work if I could teach sitting down most of the time. My administrators were very helpful and so were my students. I teach 4th grade by the way.

i teach art in an elementary school and I am going to stop working at spring break (I'll be 35 weeks) It is just an easy time to stop and transition to someone new.
Re: Teachers
Ditto all of this, except that I haven't had my babies yet, and I teach 5th gr.
