question about city mini (not select) stroller wheels...?

I finally got to go look at some strollers (and was bummed that neither store had the bumbleride twin there for me to check out :( ) and I really wanted the SBS vs a tandem (esp since you have to take the front seat off the stroller before folding, that seems like a pain?) but my concern is the foam wheels vs the rubber. Have you found that they hold up well with a lot of use on rougher surfaces like sidewalks etc? (not off roading obviously, I'm going to get a lower end jogger for things like the beach, etc I think but was hoping to use the city mini for the bulk of use).

Thanks!

  • Our City Mini wheels have held up great so far! (We've had it since June.)

  • Our BJCM is 2 years old and aside from some ground in crumbs, it is in assembly line condition. The wheels have held up fine, and we take it on pavement, sidewalks, to the zoo, and it's been on a few dirt roads.

Unfortunately, though, our kids are pretty close to outgrowing it. They're 34 inches tall (with short legs and long torsos) and there's only about 1 more inch of head space. I love the stroller and it's breaking my hear that we're going to have to retire it soon.

  • I know a few moms here in NYC for whom the wheels did not hold up well on the city mini after a year and a half (the stroller was used every day, since most folks don't drive around here).  That is the main reason we are now considering strollers with inflatable rubber wheels, like the bumbleride indie twin.
