Rhode Island Babies

Memorial Hospital

Hi ladies,

I just discovered that I am pregnant and my Dr is a family practioner who no longer delivers babies.  She referred me to another woman in her practice who delivers out of Memorial.  Did anyone else deliver there?  Thoughts/ experiances you can share?  Thanks!

Re: Memorial Hospital

  • i delivered there about 3 weeks ago...nurses were great LC was helpful....food there was tolerable lol....overall great experience. I delivered w a midwife alsoYes there were hardly any other patients there which was nice making it very quiet on the floor and the staff more attentive. I kept me son in my room and he was taken for checkups and if i needed the nurses to take him for a break they did.

  • I've heard nothing but good coming from Memorial. I delivered my first at W&I's and am planning this birth at Memorial.
  • Rumor has it Memorial (in Pawtucket) is the best place to deliver in RI. It has been called the "best kept secret" for natural childbirth.  You ask most people where the best place to deliver is, and we all assume W&I because it is state of the art....but the midwifery model is really appreciated at memorial....and breastfeeding is really supported there too.  If I were delivering here in a RI hospital it is where I would go. Even better, ask for Midwife Mary Mumford Haley whom I hear is top notch!
