Since my miscarriage was due to a chromosomal abnormality, we decided to have pre-genetic diagnosis done on our eggs this cycle so that we have a better chance of transferring chromosomally normal ones. So I'm just wondering what experiences any of you had. I'm mostly worried about how many of the 8 tested will actually be found to be normal, and also that those findings are accurate and not that a normal cell was pulled but in actuality one or more of the OTHER cells would have shown the egg to be abnormal. My transfer is tomorrow so I guess my nerves are just building up now cuz it's so close...

Re: Any PGD ladies?
I thought about doing it but decided the week before ER that it wasn't for us because we wanted to give all of our embryos a chance regardless of their chromosomal normality. I just hope the ones we transferred are o.k.
Anyway, good luck. I think all the cells should be the same (genetically) so you aren't likely to have one show normalcy when the rest in the embryo are abnormal.
We did a type of PGD. On our second cycle, 2 of 4 blasts were normal and on our third cycle 4 of 6 blasts were normal. I've heard that 50% normal is "average" for a woman in her early 30s.
ETA ---> since our testing was done on blasts, they take 8 cells to minimize error associated with mosaicism.
Hi-we did PGD during our IVF cycles largely for the same reason. I had a m/c before starting IVF and when they tested the tissue, learned it was a chromosomal abnormality. I never would have had a viable pregnancy and so we went with PGD to ensure the embryos we transferred back were at least the strongest and most viable for a live birth.
My 'normal' embryo rate after PGD was around 25-30% of my fertilized embryos. I think that's on the lower side, that's what my RE said. He said he likes to see closer to 50%. We also did ICSI due to MFI (low morph) and low egg count (they got 8 eggs from me so ICSI gave me a high fert rate which was key given the 2 factors not working in my favor - low eggs and low morph). I would strongly recommend PGD if you can swing it...it at least helped me with my comfort level. GL!
