::sigh:: I'm not in the mood for ungrateful today

A friend (another military wife) posted that it sucks that Obama's proposed military pay raise for 2011 is only 1.4%.  Yes we have gotten approximately a 3% pay raise every year since DH has been in (to account for COL going up) and this is a lot lower than normal, but just LOOK at the current state of jobs in this country.  This was my response...

"1. He proposed 2.9% last year and Congress approved a 3.4% raise so we'll probably get more.

2. In this economy where many people still lucky enough to have jobs aren't getting COL raises, and some are even forced to take pay cuts to keep from laying people off... I'm happy with any raise we get. With all the other cutbacks the federal government will be making in the next year I'm surprised we're getting a raise at all."

I'm probably going to get my shiit ripped into by all the other military wives she's friends with. 

And not that it really matters but just FTR, I consider myself a Republican so my feelings on this have nothing to do with political parties.

    ::sigh::  I wish FB had a "No Politics Allowed" clause.  I have one friend who is CONSTANTLY bashing Obama.  I get that he's a Republican and he didn't vote for the guy, but YEESH.  He's the POTUS.  FB is not the forum for that shiit.

    All politics aside, I totally agree with you. People need to realize that they are lucky to get a raise, no matter how small it is, when most people are getting laid off.

    This.  My BFF is a staunch Republican while I am a staunch Democrat, we agree on almost nothing except that posting random political rants on FB is lame.

    Sadie is not impressed.
