Why ? herniated disks in back and now contractions too

Question of the Day- Down and dirty ladies...Ok, how often do you all shower while you are on BR?  Do you keep your personal routine pretty much the same or is makeup a thing of the past?

Answer- Well, I'm asking this because yesterday I realized that the last time I'd showered was Saturday morning!  In my defense, I did get to go for a 1 hr swim/soak on Sunday evening, so that's kinda like a bath, right?  My personal routine is out the window.  I shower about once every 3 days or so.  It's hard for me to shower though..the standing and getting my legs over the tub into the shower hurts.  And it's slippery so with my back I fall easily.  I've put makeup on a few times when I am going out.  Other than that, NOTHING!  I'm a piggie, ladies....

Updates- Tonight I'm going to go for a swim again.  I was so upset last week about being sick and not getting to swim with my niece that DH rented a room at the hotel some of my family is staying in tonight.  They are coming up to go to a show at DH's work.  I can't go because it's just too much for me, so DH said he and I would watch my niece and chill at the pool while they all go to the show.  I'm so excited.  Sad that I can't go with my family, but I love being able to go to the pool, even if I don't swim much and DH will have to be the one playing with my niece.  I just do a little light swimming or sit with my legs in the hot tub, but it's still wonderful.  Let's just hope the contrax or back don't kick up and I get stuck in bed! (fingers crossed!)

Why ? shortened cervix <15mm and emergency cerclage placement yesterday afternoon.

Question of the Day- Down and dirty ladies...Ok, how often do you all shower while you are on BR?  Do you keep your personal routine pretty much the same or is makeup a thing of the past? Today was day #1, and I've done nothing but cried a lot of it, I'm so scared.  I will probably shower every morning, I hate to lay around gross but I guess I won't be doing much so who knows?!! ha Makeup is out of the picture, I hate to wear much anyway so heck no...maybe my pregnancy acne will go away if I leave it off completely!

    Date on bedrest: 23 weeks

    Type: Home

Reason: Shortened/Funneling cervix and positive ffn test

QOTD: I usually shower every morning.  I don't put on any make-up (unless I know people are stopping by) and my hair is a disaster! It's naturally wavy but I have it cut into what was a sleek bob when I straightened everyday! Now I look more like a cross between carrot top and einstein...sweet.  Just waiting patiently till it's long enough for a pony tail...

I know how you feel- I pretty much cried for the first 3 days.  I also had the positive ffn test (likely to deliver within 2 weeks).  Which made me feel like a ticking time bomb! I now know that it's a 30% chance and well I'm just not going to be in that 30%!!! Just stay as positive as possible.  You got the cerclage and that is awesome!

Get lots of books, magazines, netflix and yummy snacks! We're here for you!

    Reason: large subchorionic hematoma

QOTD: i'm not sure yet since i'm new to bedrest. i think i should probably make the effort to shower and stay clean just to keep my spirits up (which i'm having a hard time doing!) i think i feel more depressed when i'm icky and dirty.

    Why ? chronic placental abruptions

Question of the Day- Down and dirty ladies...Ok, how often do you all shower while you are on BR?  Do you keep your personal routine pretty much the same or is makeup a thing of the past? I try to shower at least daily, but that doesn't always happen.  Normally after lunch and hopefully before DH gets home from work.  Sometimes I blowout my hair but normally it air dries.  Makeup only if I am leaving the house for a dr. appt.  It would be nice to put makeup on before my in-laws drop by but I'm just lucky to have a bra on most of them time when they have their surprise visits!

    Why ? PTL & IUGR

Question of the Day- I shower at least every other day. I try to do it daily but it depends on how I'm feeling. I haven't had any contractions for 2 days now so I'm feeling pretty great right now. I put on makeup on the days that I have dr's appointments (I have 3 appts/week).

Update: I had an NST and amniotic fluid check today. It went great so I met my mom and my toddler for lunch afterwards. Tuesday is our big growth ultrasound which will determine how we go forward from here. Hoping for a lot of growth for my little lady.

    Why ? Incompetent Cervix

Question of the Day- At first I showered everyday to try and keep up with a routine.  Now I shower every other day.  I guess I'm a piggie too!  But when I shower, I do my whole routine including makeup.  Just makes me feel normal.

Update:  I have alot of visitors coming this weekend )yay!) and am going to get out of the house for dinner with DH.  But still trying to be very cautious.  I don't want to take a mile from the inch the doctor gave me yesterday.

Hope everyone is doing OK and enjoy the weekend!

    Due Date - 3/23

Date Placed on Bedrest - all 1st tri-16 weeks, admitted to the hospital 1/4

    Type -  Strict Hospital bedrest

    Why ? IUGR.

Question of the Day- I actually shower more now that I'm on bedrest haha I shower at least 1-2x a day granted the only thing I'm allowed to get out of bed for is to go to the bathroom or a quick shower so I take advantage of those shower opportunities haha I have found I quickly feel "gross" from laying in bed all day (esp. since I eat in bed) and just being pregnant w/ the extra discharge and ugh I just feel not so fresh all the time--I dont always wash my hair though b/c I have thick wavy hair that gets dry pretty easily so I wash it about 2-3x/week. I do shave my legs still (one benefit of having a small belly is I can reach my feet still haha) and I will do my whole toilette of putting on lotion, moisturizer on my face, tweeze my eyebrows (if needed), fresh change of clothes, and when I wash my hair I will blow dry and straighten it from bed (mainly because I'm bored and it gives me something to do while I watch tv) I found keeping up w/ this stuff has helped me feel less bleh but while I was at home on bedrest in 1st tri I was definitely smellier and didnt shower as often, etc. I only put makeup on maybe 1x a week but Im not a huge makeup wearer in general so I really only do it if I need an extra little confidence boost--sidenote: due to my lack of physical movement and my deteriorating muscle tone by the time I'm done showering, doing my hair, etc. I'm exhausted haha

Update: I had one of my biweekly u/s today--everything looked good but my doppler flow was a little high (it was 3.1 on mon and up to 3.6 today) The tech was going to let my peri know so I am waiting to hear if they are going to do anything in particular about it or just monitor some more (which they already monitor me twice a week for the doppler flow so I dont know how much more they can do haha) but he did fine on his morning NST and got good scores on the BPP so I am guessing the doppler flow wont be a big deal

  • Oh and Michelle--have you ever thought about getting a bench for your shower for you to sit on--when I was so sick in 1st tri and on bedrest w/ the IV crap I had a really hard time standing for more than like 2 mins (no exaggeration) and we got a shower seat for me so that I could sit, let the hot water run on my back (which felt great) and still shower, wash my hair, etc. without passing out lol something to look into, maybe?

    Why ? short cervix clerage

Question of the Day- Down and dirty ladies...Ok, how often do you all shower while you are on BR?  Do you keep your personal routine pretty much the same or is makeup a thing of the past?

I would have to say every other day, it is alot of work to shower, first standing that long yes I take 20 min showers, stepping over the tub, and then toweling off, putting on lotion and then clothes I get tired faster.  Make up no, but I don't wear makeup everyday anyway, just on special occasions where I know alot of pictures will be taken.

Update:  Had doc appointment cervix went from 2.3 back to 2.0, they want me back on Monday to see if cervix length is smaller and also to do the F test to check if I will go into labor anytime soon.  If cervix is below 2.0 then back in hospital. and if F test is positive back in hospital. I am hoping everything comes back neg., and cervix remains.

    Why ? complete placenta previa

Question of the Day- I've been showering daily, just to feel normal and clean. I've been given restroom/shower privileges, so I like to take advantage of them when I can!

Update -  I have an appointment with my OB next Tuesday with an ultrasound. My OB wants to double check the position of the placenta since my hospital stay on Monday. Hopefully we'll come up with a game plan while I'm there as well!
