Multiples

How much can you eat?

I'm over the nausea and all those icky symptoms so I thought I'd be able to eat a lot now.  Not the case.  I can barely eat my entire lunch without feeling uncomfortably full.  Does anyone else experience this?  Is this common among multiples?  I've heard from so many woman that all they did their 2nd tri was EAT!  I was soooo looking forward to it, but now my stomach can only fit so much food at once.  Weird or normal?

  • I'm not as far along as you are, but I know even with my first pregnancy I was never able to eat an entire meal I usually ate snacks in between meals to keep me going.  I always kept a granola bar or something in my purse.

    After I delivered DS the first thing I ordered in the hospital was a really large piece of chicken and ate the whole thing very easly!  I looked like someone who had never ate before. lol

  • I feel the exact same way! I will be starving for something to eat and then when I get it, I can barely eat half of it. It is making it really difficult for me to gain weight, but I've been trying to snack a lot in between meals.

  • that was normal for me. I would be starving,eat a couple bites and be full. Then 30 mins later I would be hungry again. I still am currently fighting this battle.
  • I could have wriiten this post!  My nausea is less, and on some days I am nausea-free and ready to eat an entire buffet.  But my stomach gets full so easily.  I've also noticed that it empties slowly - I'm always amazed that 4 hours after a meal I still have something in my stomach to throw up.  This whole pregnancy thing is really weird.... Big Smile

  • It's so reassuring knowing that others are going through this.  Will we ever be able to finish a whole meal in one sitting?

  • I never was sick, but I've found that what's working for me recently is to just graze all day long. I still have meals, but they're not as big, and I just always have food around to munch on. I don't like it when I actually feel hungry...it makes me feel like I'm doing something wrong (even though logically I know that's not the case). I like to eat nuts, fruit, veggies & hummus, applesauce, yogurt w/fruit in it, and these awesome whole grain chips made by Food Should Taste Good. For breakfast I have an egg and some toast, lunch I have a healthy choice/lean cuisine meal and some fruit, and then a small dinner. Its working for me and I don't feel uncomfortably full, but I also don't feel guilty if I don't feel like eating the whole meal because I know I'm getting nutrients throughout the day.
  • I've been chowing down w/o any probs except for the inevitable heartburn that I get even when I drink a glass of water. I've always had a big appetite pg or not and didn't have any m/s so I've been eating a ton since the beginning.
  • Oh, totally!  500-600 more calories a day!?  Where am I supposed to put them? 

    I get really excited for food and then only eat about 1/2 of it.  Odd.

    (Although this post has gotten me excited for lunch.  T-2 minutes!)

  • Absolutely! I get so hungry for dinner then can barely finish it. It's funny though because when we go out for dinner I will sit there until I finish everything (because it tastes soooo good!) - meanwhile DH is patiently waiting for me, having completed his dinner nearly 20+ minutes beforehand. lol. I always joke with him that, "the babies don't want the food to come down yet." Especially since I get heartburn pretty easily. Fun stuff!
