What an example of piss poor sportsmanship. I think his silver should be taken away for comments like that. He was outskated, plain and simple.

I wanted Evan to win from the get go (I think he's sexy).

I wanted him to win even more once I saw that the Russian was saying that without a quad it's "women's skating". Sexist, egotistical douche!

Then I watched last night. Evan was fluid and graceful. Russian was just plain sloppy. Like it was only about throwing and landing the tricks no matter how they looked.

As a former figure skater, I get that it is difficult as well as subjective to score the artistic side of skating, and now that they have changed the scoring system, I think it is more about the "tricks" so a lot of the artistry can easily get lost.

However, a quad is worth 9.8 and a Triple axle triple combo is worth 9.5, and those are both if they are landed perfectly. Obviously, the crappy ass landings of Pleshenko resulted in deductions. Plus the fact that Evan took advantage of the 10% bonus for completing technical elements after the halfway mark of his program, and Pleshenko did not. Plain and simple. Plus the new scoring system will show the skater exactly how he was scored on each element and what deductions were taken. Obviously he is too busy badmouthing to look at where his deductions were. Ass.

boo. sore loser.

i think sometimes the showmanship aspect seems more difficult to a lot of skaters than the technical one. you know ahead of time how the program is scored, so it's your own fault if you don't take advantage.

Seems like ice skating is in transition and under the current judging quads are not worth it to attempt it so why risk it?

Pleshenko's opinions are fair (though stated douchily), but it's not the reality of this moment in time. Evan identified what he needed to do to bring home the gold and did it. If quads were scored more highly, then he'd have planned his program differently.
