making a new post just in case anyone doesn't want to be spoiled.
I'm only 8 minutes in and I"m pissed off. First, she was awfully big for 25 weeks.
And the baby is like an hour old and already they've diagnosed all of this?
And then Addison.. WHO IS NOT A FARKING NEONATOLOGIST.. says they shouldn't operate because she'd have to be fed with an NG tube and use a ventilator between surgeries. She's a 25 weeker. She's going to have an NG tube and a vent no matter what.
I'll be back to biitch some more in a minute, I'm sure.
Re: Private Practice **spoilers**
oh oh oh.. She can hear it in his cries? Really?
Hi. 25 weeker. Vent. Vent= no hearing crying.

WTF DO I WATCH THIS SHOW?
My Blog
Oh yes.. the bili heat lights. I almost forgot that one.
Yes. Seriously. you'd think someone on the staff of the show had a preemie and could clue them in.

we can't do a central line?
I swear to God. I need to find someone to write a letter to.

So in addition to being a top MFM in the country, she's also a neonatalogist, a pediatric GI surgeon, and can stop cerebral bleeds?
And she can tell them their child will have damage so severe, FOR SURE, that they should stop treatment?
I'm with you Tricia.. DH and I are literally yelling at the TV.
i think addison's supposed to be the only board-certified peri/neo ever. which i think would be great in real life.
i agree - they have no idea what they're doing. and all of their "preemies" look full term when they come out!
comeonbaby- yes, but unfortunately people watch the show and think it is at least quasi accurate. The misinformation put out by the show is just likely to further the fallacies that surround preemies.
And honestly, more than the medical inaccuracies, the fact that they were so condescending about some parents wanting to save their child.. referring to the child as "it", the almost eye-rolling expression that Addison gave the parents over and over.. it was insulting. It was insulting to parents who have been faced with the news that their child won't make it and it was insulting to parents who had a choice and opted to save their child.
I'm glad it didn't upset you. But it offended me.

Yeah. I mentioned that on my blog last night. Really, when they did the IVF with TESE & ICSI in one day, in one room, both parties awake, with immediate success, I should have just deleted the season pass from my TiVo. Apparently I'm a glutton for punishment. (I didn't do IVF, btw, but we went through enough with IUI for me to be offended anyway.)
