Babysitter rates

What are the rates for babysitting?  We want a nursing student come to our house.  What should we expect to pay? Our baby was just born.

    I paid ten dollars an hour when DS was a month old (minimum 25 dollars if it was less than 2 hours).

    I babysit for a family on random occasions and I get paid $10 an hour. They have 3 kids and I run them to baseball/dance/swim class if needed. If they want to be taken for an outing their mom always leaves enough money to pay for their admission as well as mine. I would say that for a newborn who is at home and probably sleeping most of the time $10 an hour is enough. It's probably more than what she/he would be making working a part-time job somewhere.

    Our daily sitter charges $25/day in home.  If we go out and call someone to come to the house, we pay around $10/hour.  Our daughter is 19 months old.
