So my bedtime routine has continued to evolve. We do dinner, baths every other night or so, jammies, then I put them in their cribs and give them their sippy cups of milk. I generally then sit outside their cribs and read a couple books. I feel a little bad I'm not cuddling with them during this time, but I stopped giving them their milk on the bed (there is also a double bed in the room) because it would disintegrate into play time and I was then trying to keep two kids from falling off the bed. I couldn't even think of reading to them in that situation. Do any of you have a similar setup (milk and stories while the monkeys are contained) or have any suggestions?

Re: Bedtime routine with toddlers
DH and I do bedtime together most nights, which is great. We do offer the boys sippies at bedtime but they don't drink much at that time anymore; they drink most of their milk during meals and earlier in the evening.
So then for the bedtime routine, we do baths a couple times a week, and then lotion, PJs, sleep sacks, rock while we sing 1-2 lullabies, bedtime prayer, one last cuddle and put them to bed. We haven't incorporated bedtime stories yet (we do read during the day) but probably will when they're a little older and can sit through a story rather than trying to eat the book.
dinner, baths (every night but soap only a few times a week), lotion, diapers, PJ, pacci (they dont get milk after dinner because we brush their teeth in the bath and they dont drink it anyway) and in bed. I kiss them goodnight and cover them DH sits and reads them a story. He says that most nights they sit and look at him or jump. But as soon as he leaves we can hear them settle.
