... what organization did you donate your embryos to? I'm having a difficult time finding a research organization to donate our embryos to. Several of them aren't currently accepting embryo donations. One that I found that is accepting embryos is only accepting embryos from the San Francisco bay area. So that's not an option for us. I still have a couple of e-mails out that I might hear back on, but I thought maybe someone here would have some leads.
If we can't donate to scientific/medical research, then we'll have to have the IVF lab destroy them. Which seems weird to me. I'm definitely more comfortable with the research option. Not exactly sure why, but that's just how we feel.
This whole thing is just weird. I never thought we'd have extra embryos to worry about. And I didn't think we'd have both of the kids we wanted in one go. So I was pregnant once and we got our two kids and now I'm done with the pregnancy chase, when for three years I was do-anything-for-a-baby all the time. It's a big mental and emotional shift.
Re: If you donated frozen embryos to scientific research ...
Have you considered donating them to another couple?
I agree that in the heat of IF the decisions you make regarding fert/etc are often done without realizing some of the future decisions or what ifs that can come out of it.
Your feelings of oddity on how this whole journey goes are so real. IF totally encompasses you and then all of a sudden (esp with twins): bamn! like a magic wand. Don't think you are the only one!!
Best wishes to you!
