Pregnant after a Loss

Recommend your suv/minivan:

We will be getting rid of my very reliable -(and paid for!)-yet-tiny Corolla this summer to have a more family friendly vehicle. We also need to keep the car payment reasonable due to paying for full time day care . I am reluctantly seeing that a minivan might be a decent/affordable option, but wonder what you have found works really well with all the things tiny babies need.

  • Our baby is not here yet....but we both have the Jeep Liberty.  Mine is a 2007, DH's is a 2002.  We think it's be great for 1 baby, but will have to upgrade to a Grand Cherokee or Commander (whatever is available at the time) for 2 children.  The back cargo area is plenty large for all things baby, and the back seat could comfortably hold carseat and an adult (not carseat, booster seat and an adult, though).  We also have a large dog (85 lb Lab), so having a large back seat is good for times when dog needs to be transported, but baby is staying home (with one of us of course).

  • I have a Honda Pilot and love it.  A lot of my friends have Pilots too.  My sister has the Honda Odessy (she has 3 kids so it worked better then an SUV).
  • We have a Toyota Sienna, and absolutely love it. The doors/trunk open and close by themself, which is really convenient when juggling 3 kids. We have room for our double stroller, as well as all of our groceries.
  • I LOVE my Toyota VENZA.  It's really spacious... lots of passenger and storage room.  Fits a stroller and carseats well.  It's not quite an SUV, but a little bigger than a station wagon.  I've had it for about 7 months.  The best car ever.  It's reliable and pretty good on gas (21 city / 28 hwy).  And it's super cute.  Looks like a Lexus or some other classy crossover, but with a Toyota price tag.  Plus, if you buy it from a Toyota dealer that has a Penske affiliation, it comes with a free lifetime warranty.  You can take it to any Toyota dealer in the US or Canada, and they will fix it.  Smile  I HIGHLY recommend it.

ETA: it comfortably fits 5 adults... so even two car seats and an adult in the rear seat should be fine.  And my family isn't small, so the fact that five of us fit, is impressive. :)

  • We've got a Chevy Tahoe and it works great!  I'm not sure what year but it's a little older, I want to say 05 or so....  Anywho, it's got plenty of room for baby and all the things that get drug along with baby, as well as everything eles we need.  Can seat 8 but we have it set for 6.  I'm sure you can find a good deal on one if you are interested.  I love it!
  • We have a Toyota 4-Runner that we really like. It isn't on any recall list. They are trying to earn back customer trust so you might get a good deal on a Toyota.

  • We have a Dodge Journey, I love it.  We managed just fine with a tiny mazda 3 while DD was small, but it was painful to take trips esp with the dog.  It also has the extra 2 seat bench to fold up (total of 7 seats) when we are taking the GPs or friends with us somewhere.

We have a 4Runner and have loved it with one kid and our 100 lb dog. We are pretty sure a minivan is in our near future though because with 2 carseats and the dog in the trunk there isn't going to be much room for our stuff. We also had lots of friends and family who visit, so a car that will have room for extra people will be nice since I won't have any extra space in my car when LO arrives.

Mine looks just like this! We just bought it a couple weeks ago and i LOVE it! Its a 2010 Touring, fully loaded! We bought our 1st in 2005 when my DD was 4 months old. Definitely definitely recommend getting the DVD system! Once my DD turned 1 and could face forward, she LOVED it! It would help to keep her occupied on longer drives.  The stow and go is a LIFE SAVER with a baby!

  • Both DH and I own a Ford Escape.  I have nothing but good raves about this vehicle.
  • I love my 2006 Ford Explorer. ?We got it back in October. ?The front is roomy along with the back and there is a lot of room for baby stuff behind the back seat. ?It sits up at a nice height to get LO in and out (at least I thin it does, we will have to wait until July). ?GL!
