Babies: 0 - 3 Months

I saw you post below in the age thread.

How are you doing?  Did the GD go away?  My doctor still has me testing randomly and my numbers are ok, but not always where they need to be.  I know when the numbers are bad and it's when I eat something that I know I shouldn't eat.  I have to find a happy medium - can't eat what I ate before, but also can't live on eating what I ate for the GD.

  • Hiya!

Doing quite well as far as recovery and whatnot. They wanted me to test my sugar levels, too, but once I got home (had c/s), I just kept forgetting. : /

I remember your diet was VERY restricted so I hear you on not living on that... I had every intention to follow what I ate bc it wasn't as restricted, but I've been eating pretty poorly - just cuz I could, you know?? Fortunately I lost a ton of weight after the baby (was 20 pounds lighter than what I was when I got pg!!) which I do attribute to the GD diet. Once I go back to work in two weeks, I really am gonna try to start eating that way again though. And for shiggles sake, I think I'll go test my level in an hour to see where it's at! :)

  • Crashing - I was posting on High Risk GD and remember you guys.

I have a confession - I still haven't gone back for my glucose test. I'm so scared that I will have diabetes. I took my fasting one morning, randomly, and it was 98 so I freaked out. My doctor said that is not an indication of anything, but I still keep dragging my feet on going in for the two hour.

  • Yeah, I was SUPER restricted with my 50g of carbs a day total.  I went a little too nuts when I got home from the hospital and really enjoyed myself at Xmas.  Pasta and desserts - couldn't get enough of them!  :o)

I lost all of the baby weight by the time I had my staples out the next week.  I'm now down 10 lbs from where I started before getting pregnant.  I think things will be easier when I go back to work and don't have the kitchen in front of me all the time.

  • At 6 - 8 weeks post partum, I was supposed to go for a two-hour glucose test. The nurse actually called me a few weeks ago to yell at me about it.

Sigh. Maybe I'll just bite the bullet and do it tomorrow.

OMG - this is so me.

I asked my OB about it, but he told me I didn't have to as long as I was testing at home.  I haven't been good about it though.

  • It's seriously impossible to find two doctors to say the same thing. I swear. My OB and my perinatologist couldn't even agree half the time.
