So I have never been to either of these but i'm planning on going to both here in the next few weeks! I'm really looking forward to getting some things for my little girl that is on her way!!
I was wondering what the prices were really like... any examples?
Thanks!!

Re: Divine Consign & JBF Sales - Question
This is an example of what I got/spent last fall at the DC Plano sale :

Everything is suggested to be marked at 75% off retail. Some price it more off than that, some a little less. I usually go to both sales, wardrobe my kid for the whole season for about $200.

I've been going to DC since I was PG with DD. While you can find good deals, I've found that as the popularity of it as grown, so have the prices. I'm not the only mom who's noticed this.
I've gotten some great deals - brand new items with tags just for a couple dollars, a beautiful Talbot's kids xmas dress for $10.
I found it a great place to get newborn clothing for my DD... there is so much there that even if you wait until the 50% off sale at the end, there is still a decent selection and you get an even better price
most items i bought for my DD for $0.50-1.50 a piece. some of the nicer things i "splurged" on and spent $2-4 a piece. when they are so young they wear things once or twice and outgrow them so everything was in great condition...though you should still inspect things for stains b/c i did put some things back on the rack due to that.
it's also a great place to get activity mats and such, but sometimes craigslist is still cheaper, in my experience, but i only went for the first time last year.

Well, that's economics for you. As retail prices increase, so do consignment prices - you can't really expect people to give their clothes away. I don't think rising prices has anything to do with the popularity of the sale - haven't they always had the "75% off of retail" guideline? If so, then it would make sense that prices have gone up. It's still a VERY good sale, I'd rather shop it than most of the consignment stores in my area, and I'm lucky to live by some very good ones.
I have gone to JBF for YEARS! I usually clothe my two children for each upcoming season there. I always make more on what I sell than what I buy. So, I make money buying their clothes. It is always so exciting.
Last year I got: 50 spring outfits (about 20 of them church smocked outfits - 10 of which are brand new), 6 pairs of NEW stride rite shoes, a britax marathon with extra cover, 3 books, 10 hats, 3 swim suits with matching surfer swim tops, 6 dresses, one excersaucer for my mom's house, two outdoor swings (little tykes), 10 large toys, 34 mid sized toys, 6 small toys, 1 bottle dishwasher basket....whew! All for under $500.
I do volutneer so I can get in FIRST because I want first choice of everything.
